Chapter 4 - The Unmasking at the Faculty ClubThe following afternoon, the grand dining hall of the Harvard Faculty Club was decorated with floral arrangements and silver settings for the annual Dean’s Reception for Outstanding Incoming Scholars.

Over two hundred prominent university trustees, corporate donors, faculty members, and elite families mingled beneath the sparkling chandeliers.

Sophia’s nineteen-year-old son, Ethan Moretti—unaware of his mother’s arrest four hours earlier—sat at a prominent table near the stage, boasting to three other freshmen about his father’s multi-billion-dollar maritime empire in Chicago.

"My dad owns half the docks on Lake Michigan," Ethan bragged, taking a sip of sparkling cider. "In three years, I'm taking over the executive board. My mother handles our private foundations."

I walked into the Faculty Club wearing an breathtaking, custom-tailored dark navy silk dress that celebrated my tall, sovereign posture. My dark hair fell in glossy waves over my shoulders, my hazel eyes shining with absolute, unshakeable calm. Down on my right hand rested a simple ten-carat emerald signet ring—the original Seal of the Bennett Family Estate.

Walking beside me, wearing his charcoal wool suit, holding his academic plaque, was Noah.

Behind us walked two uniformed Federal Marshals and senior litigator Bridget Colton.

Ethan Moretti looked up, a sneer covering his handsome face as he saw Noah walking toward the stage. "Look, guys. It's the charity case from yesterday. The one whose mom cried on stage."

Noah didn't flinch. He didn't answer. He walked past Ethan’s table with the quiet, effortless dignity of a young prince who knew his own worth.

Suddenly, the heavy mahogany double doors of the Faculty Club swung wide open.

Vincent Moretti walked into the room.

He wore a dark suit, his face carved from unyielding granite, his storm-gray eyes burning with a cold, terrifying authority that silenced the entire room of two hundred elite guests.

Ethan stood up immediately, offering a confident, arrogant smile. "Dad! You made it! I saved you a seat at the trustee table—"

Vincent didn't look at Ethan. He walked straight past his nineteen-year-old son as if the boy didn't exist, stopping three feet from where Noah and I stood near the podium.

"Dad...?" Ethan blinked, his smile faltering in utter confusion. "What's going on?"

Bridget Colton stepped forward, opening a thick leather binder, addressing the room and the university trustees in a clear, ringing voice:

"As of 11:00 AM today," Bridget announced, "all corporate trust allocations regarding Ethan Moretti have been permanently revoked by Moretti Global’s executive board. Furthermore, federal indictments have been served against Sophia Reynolds for thirty-four counts of Felony Wire Fraud and Asset Concealment."

Ethan’s jaw sagged open. His face turned paper-white. "WHAT?! My mother was arrested?! Dad, tell her she's lying!"

Vincent turned his head slowly, looking at Ethan with a cold, devastating indifference that cut deeper than any knife.

"You are not my heir, Ethan," Vincent stated flatly, his deep baritone carrying clearly across the quiet dining hall. "Your mother stole twenty-two million dollars from my true family. You have one hour to vacate your university housing and surrender your corporate vehicles."

Ethan staggered backward into his chair, tears of pure, catatonic shock spilling down his face as two university security officers stepped up to guide him off the premises.

Vincent turned back to Noah and me, his storm-gray eyes softening into a look of deep, overwhelming reverence.

"Noah," Vincent whispered softly, his hands trembling at his sides. "I know I have no right to ask for your forgiveness. But everything I own... every vessel, every dock, every acre of my estate... belongs to you."

Noah looked into his father's eyes, his expression calm, analytical, and completely unbroken.

"I don't need your estate, Mr. Moretti," Noah replied smoothly, adjusting his charcoal tie. "My mother gave me something far more valuable than your billions."

May you like

"What did she give you?" Vincent choked out.

"She gave me a mother who walked in unbroken truth," Noah answered. "And a name I am proud to carry."
