Chapter 4 - The Truth of the HeirSophia’s face drained of every drop of color. "Vincent! You can't be serious! I gave you your son! I gave you Lucas! The heir to the Moretti dynasty!"

"Did you, Sophia?" a clear, steady voice echoed from the doorway.

My lead attorney, Madison Parker, stepped into the private office carrying a thick, sealed Manila folder bound by red judicial wax seals.

Beside her walked Special Agent Miller from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Financial Crimes Division.

Sophia stumbled backward against the sofa, her hands trembling violently. "Who... who are these people?!"

Madison Parker set the Manila folder flat onto Vincent’s mahogany desk, opening the certified legal pages before his eyes.

"Three weeks ago, Don Vincent," Madison revealed cleanly, her voice sharp as surgical steel, "our forensic accounting team audited the secondary medical trust accounts established for Sophia Reynolds seven years ago at St. Catherine’s Hospital."

Vincent’s brow furrowed in deep, cold confusion. "What secondary medical trust?"

"The trust your former father-in-law—Claire's father—used to pay off the attending obstetrician, Dr. Reynolds," Madison explained, pulling a certified genetic report from the folder, laying it flat under Vincent’s eyes.

The red numbers lit up the black typography:

GENETIC ANALYSIS REPORT: SUBJECT LUCAS REYNOLDS

PATERNAL MATCH: 0.00% (SUBJECT VINCENT MORETTI IS EXCLUDED AS BIOLOGICAL FATHER)

ACTUAL BIOLOGICAL FATHER: MARCUS VANCE (SOPHIA'S FORMER FIANCÉ)

The room went dead, breathlessly quiet.

Vincent stared at the paper, his hands trembling so violently he nearly tore the parchment in half.

"No... no..." Vincent rasped out, his voice cracking into broken, horrific fragments. "No... Lucas... isn't my son?!"

"Your adopted sister and her mother forged the birth records seven years ago, Don Vincent," Special Agent Miller reported flatly. "They knew your father demanded a male heir to secure the primary voting proxy. They used Marcus Vance’s child to force Claire out of the marriage, steal her inheritance, and secure thirty million dollars in secondary trust funds."

Sophia let out a guttural, frantic shriek, turning to run toward the private exit.

CLICK. CLICK.

Two federal marshals stepped through the side doors, slapping heavy steel handcuffs around Sophia’s wrists, forcing her flat against the leather sofa as she wept in total, groveling defeat.

Vincent dropped flat onto his chair, burying his face in his hands, letting out a raw, agonizing sob of total, absolute destruction.

He had abandoned his real wife and his biological daughter in a curtained hospital ward... for a fake heir and a venomous lie.
