Chapter 3 - The Signing on the CobblestonesJulian Miller’s eyes bulged out of his head in complete, speech-bound horror.

"The... the secondary ledger...?" Julian choked out, his blood mixing with the rain on the stone floor. "She... she gave you the ledger?!"
"Ava is a brilliant woman, Julian," Elias murmured, a faint, proud smile touching his lips. "She knew that if you ever tried to kill her, she needed an insurance policy. She hid the ledger inside her hospital bag before your men ever dragged her out of the apartment."
Julian grabbed the silver pen offered by Marco with his uninjured left hand, signing his name across the legal documents with frantic, trembling strokes, stamping his thumbprint into the blue wax seal.
"It's signed! It's done!" Julian wept pathetically, holding his bloody right hand against his chest. "Please! Let me go! I'll leave New York! I'll never come near her again!"
Elias picked up the signed documents, handing them to Marco to be notarized and filed with the state Supreme Court immediately.
He looked down at Julian, his storm-gray eyes holding zero mercy, zero warmth, and an absolute, unshakeable finality.
"You are leaving New York, Julian," Elias declared flatly. "But you aren't going to Florida. You are going to a federal maximum-security facility in upstate New York to serve twenty years for corporate fraud, domestic attempted murder, and human trafficking."
Two uniformed Federal Marshals, accompanied by two city homicide detectives, stepped out from the security foyer, slapping heavy steel handcuffs around Julian’s wrists, dragging his weeping, groveling frame out through the iron gates toward a waiting transport van.

Elias turned his back on the courtyard, walking back toward the private elevator, unbuttoning his rain-soaked suit jacket.
"Marco," Elias commanded as the elevator doors closed. "Bring two bottles of warm milk and the private pediatrician up to the master suite. My daughters need their feeding."
