Chapter 6 - The Gala at the PlazaIn late September 2026, the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan was packed to absolute capacity for the inaugural Maro Heritage & Maternal Health Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, civic officials, and close friends gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.
Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing an immaculate bespoke tuxedo, was Nicholas Maro. His broad shoulders were squared, his handsome face glowing with deep, genuine pride.
Beside him stood six-month-old Lily in a white lace dress, while I stood at his side in a breathtaking dark emerald evening gown.
Nicholas adjusted his microphone, his deep voice echoing cleanly through the room:
"Six months ago, I found my niece and grand-daughter sitting in a blizzard," Nicholas announced to the silent room. "And they taught me that true strength isn't built on fear or power... it is built on love, maternal courage, and family loyalty."
He raised his champagne glass high under the glittering lights.
