Chapter 3 - The Confrontation at the CourtThe following afternoon, the grand marble atrium of the New York Family Court was packed with attorneys, reporters, and corporate executives.

Daniel Sullivan stood near the central elevators wearing a crisp suit, accompanied by his arrogant mother, Beatrice, and his high-priced lawyer. Daniel held a leather briefcase, a triumphant smirk on his face as he spoke to reporters about his upcoming corporate promotion.

"My ex-wife was unfit," Daniel declared loudly for the cameras. "She left the hospital voluntarily, and her claims of abandonment are completely fabricated—"

BOOM!

The heavy double glass doors of the courthouse were thrown wide open.

Walking down the central aisle, flanked by six armed Maro security guards and Chief Legal Officer Marcus Vance, was me.

I wore an exquisite floor-length dark emerald silk suit that celebrated my grace and dignity. My dark hair fell in glossy waves over my shoulders, and around my neck hung the fully restored silver Maro crest.

Beside me walked Nicholas Maro, his tall, imposing frame radiating an unshakeable, sovereign power that made the entire lobby fall dead silent.

Daniel’s smirk vanished instantly. Color drained from his face as his eyes darted from me to the notorious crime lord walking at my side.

"A-Ava...?" Daniel stammered, backing up against the elevator wall. "What... what are you doing here?! Who is this man?!"

"I am Nicholas Maro," my uncle announced flatly, his deep baritone carrying cleanly across the high marble ceilings. "And the woman you threw into a blizzard three days ago is my biological niece and the sole heiress to the Maro Logistics Trust."

Beatrice gasped, covering her mouth in terror, while Daniel’s lawyer turned paper-white and immediately stepped three paces away from his client.

Marcus Vance stepped forward, handing a stack of court-stamped legal documents to the bailiffs:

SUMMARY DIVORCE DISMISSAL: Complete annulment of Daniel’s fraudulent divorce filing, replaced by an immediate petition for total sole custody and maximum spousal restitution.

CORPORATE SEIZURE: Full legal foreclosure on Daniel's company housing, luxury vehicle, and bank accounts due to his two-million-dollar embezzlement from Maro Logistics.

ARREST WARRANT: Federal warrants served for Child Endangerment, Grand Larceny, and Fraud.

Two uniformed federal marshals stepped forward, locking heavy steel handcuffs around Daniel’s wrists behind his back.

"Daniel Sullivan," the lead marshal declared. "You are under arrest."

Daniel wept and begged frantically as officers dragged him and his shrieking mother out of the courthouse in total, public disgrace, surrounded by news cameras capturing his complete downfall.
