Chapter 3 - The Purge of the CommissionAt 8:00 PM that evening, the grand marble assembly room of the New York Five Families Commission in downtown Manhattan was packed to absolute capacity.

Over three hundred prominent syndicate bosses, maritime magnates, corrupt politicians, and high-society figures sat around circular white-linen tables beneath glittering crystal chandeliers.

Standing at the central presentation podium, wearing an expensive double-breasted suit, was Victor Miller. Beside him stood Antonio Russo, the ruthless seventy-year-old Don of the Russo syndicate.

Victor held a microphone, his voice booming across the silent hall with fake, dramatic outrage:

"Gentlemen of the Commission!" Victor shouted, waving a set of forged custody papers. "Don Elias Vance has crossed territorial boundaries! He invaded my private residence in South Brooklyn, kidnapped my wife and my newborn daughters, and is holding them hostage in his Long Island penthouse to force a surrender of Pier 14!"

The crowd of three hundred began to murmur in quiet, tense speculation.

BOOM!

The heavy double mahogany doors at the rear of the assembly hall were thrown wide open with a violent, hydraulic crash!

The murmurs collapsed into an immediate, speech-bound silence.

Walking down the central red carpet, flanked by Marcus Vance, six armed Vance security officers, and a team of federal marshals, was Elias Vance.

He wore an magnificent black bespoke tuxedo, his broad six-foot-three frame radiating an absolute, untouchable, sovereign authority.

And walking right beside Elias, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk gown that celebrated my tall, graceful figure, holding the silver signet ring of the Miller Family Trust openly around my neck, was me.

Victor Miller dropped his microphone. The audio feedback shrieked sharply across the hall as his face turned an ugly, paper-white shade of green.

"A-Ava...?!" Victor stammered, taking three panicked steps backward against the podium. "YOU... YOU WERE DEAD! I LEFT YOU UNDER THE OVERPASS!"

"You left me to die in a blizzard, Victor," I announced, my clear, velvet baritone echoing cleanly off the high marble walls. "So you could steal my grandfather's thirty-five percent equity in Pier 14."

Elias stepped forward, stopping five feet from the podium, looking down at Victor and Antonio Russo with an absolute, weightless disgust that dropped the room's temperature to zero.

"Victor Miller," Elias declared flatly, his deep voice carrying an apocalyptic weight. "Your marriage to Chairwoman Ava Miller is officially dissolved under federal fraud statutes. Your proxy over Pier 14 has been permanently revoked, and your corporate assets have been seized."

Bridget Colton tapped a tablet screen, projecting high-definition medical intake records, thermal security video of Victor dumping me under the overpass, and financial wiretap logs onto the assembly's forty-foot displays:

THE THERMAL FOOTAGE: Clear video capturing Victor Miller dragging my weak, post-childbirth body out of his SUV and dumping me and my twin baby girls into the snow behind the concrete overpass.

THE MEDICAL EVIDENCE: Certified forensic reports detailing the severe whip welts across my back and the life-threatening hypothermia suffered by my newborn daughters.

FEDERAL INDICTMENTS: Arrest warrants issued by the United States District Court for Three Counts of Attempted Premeditated Murder, Aggravated Domestic Assault, and Systemic Wire Fraud.

The three hundred syndicate leaders stood up in pure outrage, pointing fingers at Victor Miller and Antonio Russo, completely severing all ties with their faction on the spot.

Lead Marshal Miller stepped forward, holding heavy steel handcuffs.

"Victor Miller," Marshal Miller declared coldly. "You are under arrest."

The cold steel cuffs locked tightly around Victor’s wrists behind his back. He thrashed and wept hysterical, pathetic pleas as marshals dragged him out of the Commission hall in total, public disgrace, surrounded by news cameras capturing his downfall for the evening news.
