Chapter 4 - The Strike on LexingtonBefore Vincent could raise his automatic rifle, the heavy floor-to-ceiling glass panel behind the reception desk exploded inward into a million sparkling shards.

Two broad-shouldered operators from my private, loyal tactical team—men who answered only to me—bounded through the frame, their high-powered weapons raised with surgical precision.
THWIP! THWIP! THWIP!
Suppressed rounds cut through the air.
Vincent's three enforcers collapsed onto the carpet, their weapons sliding uselessly across the floorboards.
Vincent let out a sharp, terrified gasp, dropping his rifle as two operators slammed his broad frame flat against the marble reception desk, driving heavy steel handcuffs around his wrists.
Vincent panted for breath, his bloodshot eyes staring up at me in absolute, horror-stricken shock.
"Adrian... please!" Vincent whimpered, his arrogant composure completely shattering into pathetic, groveling terror. "Victor made me do it! He threatened my family!"
I walked over to the reception desk, holding Lily securely in my arm, looking down at the man who had betrayed my trust for four years.
"You gave up your family when you touched mine, Vincent," I whispered, my baritone cold as winter ice.
I looked over at my secondary tactical lead, Marco.
"Take Vincent to the federal holding facility in Lower Manhattan," I commanded cleanly. "Hand him directly to Special Agent Miller along with the secondary wiretap recordings from my home server."
Marco nodded respectfully. "Understood, Boss."
Lily buried her small face into my neck, her hands wrapped tightly around my collar. I smoothed down her soft dark hair, pressing a warm, gentle kiss against her forehead.
"Are you okay, sweet pea?" I asked softly into her ear.
Lily pulled back slightly, looking into my hazel eyes, her small chin held high. "I'm okay, Dad. You stopped the bad men."

A low, genuine smile touched my lips—a smile that hadn't appeared on my face in twelve years—as I held my daughter tight against my heart.
"Now we go meet Mr. Romano," I promised, guiding Maya through the private exit toward the armored sedans waiting below.
