Chapter 3 - The Gathering ShadowNews of the truth didn't break through a public press release. It started with a whisper that spread through the high-society circles of Greenwich like a quiet wildfire.

Within forty-eight hours, the rumors that had once destroyed Grace’s reputation turned back onto the people who had created them.

My mother, consumed by deep guilt and the terrifying realization of her own cruelty, immediately hired two international security teams to assist Marcus in tracking down Grace’s siblings. Meanwhile, I brought Grace into the corporate headquarters of Walker Global, walking through the main lobby holding her hand firmly in mine.

She no longer wore a housekeeper's linen uniform. She wore an elegant tailored emerald dress, her dark hair pinned back, her posture erect despite her quiet shyness.

The very staff members who had once whispered behind her back in the breakrooms stood frozen as I led her directly into the executive suite.

"Good morning, Mrs. Walker," my executive secretary said, bowing her head with genuine respect.

Grace looked at me, a faint, nervous smile touching her lips. "I don't think I'll ever get used to people calling me that, Ethan."

"You earned that title through courage, Grace," I said, kissing her forehead softly. "Now, let's bring your family home."

We sat in my private office with Marcus and two specialized Interpol liasons.

"We have located Mason in London," Marcus reported, pointing to a computer screen showing a handsome fifteen-year-old boy playing soccer at a boarding school outside Surrey. "He’s been living under the name 'Oliver Vance.' He knows he has a sister, but he was told she died years ago to protect him from being tracked."

Tears welled in Grace’s eyes as she touched the glass of the screen. "Mason... he looks so much like my father."

"And Tyler?" I asked urgently.

Marcus’s expression darkened slightly. "Tyler is twelve, living in Toronto under private medical guardianship. His heart condition has deteriorated over the last three months. He needs a specialized valve replacement surgery that costs four hundred thousand dollars—a surgery his foster family couldn't afford."

Grace gasped, clutching her mouth. "That's why... that's why the private legal firm in Canada asked for an extra wire transfer last month! I didn't have enough... I didn't have enough to pay for his surgery!"

"He's getting the surgery, Grace," I said immediately, taking her hands. "I've already dispatched my private medical jet to Toronto. Dr. Chen, the chief of pediatric cardiology at NewYork-Presbyterian, is flying out as we speak. Tyler will be transferred to New York by tomorrow morning."

"And Emma?" Grace asked, her voice trembling. "What about my baby sister?"

"Emma is eight," Marcus said, pulling up a file from Munich. "She’s safe, but Harrison Thorne’s operatives have recently made inquiries at her school registry in Germany. They know someone is quietly funding these three children from an account in Connecticut."

My blood ran hot with anger. Harrison Thorne was closing in. He knew that if the three Miller children were ever reunited and their real legal identities authenticated, the thirty-eight-million-dollar land trust would be revoked from Vanguard Enterprises, exposing his entire firm to international criminal fraud.

"They're trying to eliminate the heirs," I realized, my hands clenching into fists on the desk.

"Then we strike first," I said, looking at Marcus. "Issue a formal legal injunction against Vanguard Enterprises. Freeze the South American land accounts. And bring all three children to Greenwich under armed escort."
