Chapter 6 - The Festival of LightIn late September 2026, the grand ballroom of the Ritz-Carlton in Charlotte was packed to absolute capacity for the inaugural Bennett Twins Pediatric & Maternal Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, medical directors, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.
Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk gown that celebrated my tall, graceful figure, was me.
Around my neck hung my late father's silver maritime compass, my dark hair falling in glossy waves over my shoulders, my hazel eyes burning with absolute, unshakeable victory, inner peace, and sovereign grace.
Beside the stage stood Marcus Vance, looking magnificent in a dark bespoke tuxedo, holding five-year-old Liam and Leo by their hands.
I adjusted the microphone, my clear, velvet baritone echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:
"Four years ago, I was told that seven years of my life had been wasted because I couldn't give a man a child," I announced to the silent ballroom, my voice filled with deep, genuine pride. "And tonight, standing before my sons and the man who honored my truth, I know that no year spent surviving the dark is ever wasted when it leads you to your true light."
I held my champagne glass high under the glittering lights.
