Chapter 4 - The Illusion ShattersHook for Facebook: When I walked into the ballroom wearing a $40-million-dollar diamond necklace, my husband didn't recognize me. When he finally did, his mistress tried to have me thrown out for stealing.

“P-Phoebe?” Spencer stammered, his face turning entirely pale.
The woman standing before him wasn't the tired, quiet wife who wore faded clothes and stayed up late waiting for him to come home. I stood tall, my skin radiant, wearing a gown that cost more than Spencer’s entire car collection.
Paisley’s jaw dropped, her eyes darting from my face to the breathtaking black diamond gown, and finally to the massive blue diamond glowing on my neck. Her face twisted into a mask of pure jealousy and rage.
“Phoebe? What the hell are you doing here?!” Paisley shrieked, forgetting her "classy" persona for a moment. “How did you get in here? And what are you wearing? Did you rob a museum?!”
The nearby guests gasped at Paisley’s screeching tone. Spencer quickly grabbed her arm, his eyes locked on me. “Phoebe... how... where did you get that dress? Who authorized you to use my emergency credit cards?”
I let out a soft, melodic laugh that sounded like ice dropping into a glass. “Your credit cards, Spencer? Your entire company’s net worth couldn't afford the thread on this dress, let alone the jewelry.”
“Don’t lie!” Paisley hissed, stepping forward. She looked around at the gathering crowd, trying to salvage her dignity. “Security! Security, come here immediately! This woman is an impostor! She’s Spencer’s estranged, unemployed wife who snuck in to cause a scene! Look at her necklace, it’s obviously a fake! She probably stole it from a prop closet!”
Two large security guards quickly approached the circle. Spencer didn't stop Paisley; he was too busy trying to figure out how his "embarrassing" wife looked like the most powerful woman in the room.
“Ma'am, I’m going to have to ask you to leave,” one of the guards said to me, though his voice lacked confidence because of my demeanor.
Before I could speak, a cold, authoritative voice boomed from behind the crowd.
“If you lay a single finger on my daughter, I will ensure you and your entire agency never work in this country again.”

The crowd parted instantly, creating a wide path. Walking down the center was Raymond Harrell, flanked by four personal bodyguards and the CEO of the Apex Group itself.
Spencer’s eyes nearly popped out of his head. “Mr... Mr. Harrell?”
