Chapter 7 - The Crown and the HearthSix Months Later.

The summer sun shone brightly over the lush green hills of the Casaro Estate in Upstate New York.
The quiet sanctuary was far away from the dark noise of the city. My father sat on the wide stone porch in a comfortable rocking chair, holding a newspaper, enjoying the cool mountain breeze with healthy red color in his cheeks. His recovery was complete.
I walked out onto the stone patio wearing a light white linen dress, carrying two glasses of freshly squeezed lemonade.
"Here you go, Dad," I smiled, handing him a glass.
"Thank you, sweetheart," Dad said, looking at me with deep, peaceful pride. "You look happy, Myra."
"I am happy, Dad," I said, leaning against the wooden railing, looking out over the rolling gardens.
Nico was gone—living in a tiny, rundown apartment in Jersey City, working a minimum-wage job at a car wash, stripped of every cent, every friend, and every title he had ever possessed. Chloe had been suspended from her university, her family ruined by the public corruption scandal.
And Casaro Logistics? Under my direction as Trustee, the company had converted three major waterfront warehouses into community centers and honest shipping hubs, clearing the family name of its darkest shadows.
Footsteps sounded softly behind me on the patio stone.
I turned to see Leo walking toward us. He wore a crisp white linen shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his forearms, looking relaxed, majestic, and undeniably handsome in the afternoon light.
He walked up to my father first, touching Dad’s shoulder with warm respect. "How are the legs today, Frank?"
"Better than ever, Leo," Dad smiled warmly. "Thanks to you."
Leo turned his gray eyes toward me. The coldness that had once defined his gaze was completely gone, replaced by an intense, dark warmth that made my breath catch in my throat every time he looked at me.
"Walk with me, Myra," Leo murmured softly, extending his hand.
I placed my hand in his, feeling the broad, warm strength of his fingers wrapping around mine.
We walked down the stone steps into the rose garden, the scent of blooming red flowers filling the warm summer air.
"The board approved the new foundation budget this morning," Leo said as we walked along the gravel path. "You are officially the most powerful philanthropist in New York, Myra."
"We did it together, Leo," I smiled, looking up at him. "You gave me the power to fight back."
Leo stopped near the central marble fountain, turning to face me completely. He reached out, his long fingers gently tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear, his thumb tracing the line of my jawline.
"I didn't give you power, Myra," Leo whispered, his deep voice vibrating in his chest. "You had the fire inside you all along. I simply gave you the room to burn."
I looked into his gray eyes, feeling the powerful, unbreakable bond that had forged between us through blood, betrayal, and victory. He had saved my father, defended my honor, and stood beside me when the world was falling apart.
"What happens now, Leo?" I asked softly, stepping closer to his tall frame.
Leo leaned down, his lips resting inches from mine, his warm breath fanning across my skin.
"Now," Leo murmured, his hand wrapping around my waist, pulling me gently against his chest, "the empire belongs to us. And I am never letting you go."

He pressed his lips to mine—a deep, protective, passionate kiss that sealed our past and opened a bright, triumphant future.
The waitress who had walked barefoot into the lion's den was gone. In her place stood the queen who had conquered the dark, standing proudly beside the king who loved her.
