Chapter 6 - The Sanctuary of LightIn late May 2026, on a clear, warm Saturday afternoon, the sweeping oceanfront gardens of my East Hampton estate were decorated with blooming white orchids, yellow sunflowers, and sunlit tables for the grand dedication of our new cardiac defense wing.

Over three hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, Dr. Alexander Reed, Bridget Colton, and close friends gathered around white-linen tables set up along the stone patio, enjoying fine food, vintage wine, and live acoustic music.
I stood near the grand marble balustrade wearing a breathtaking floor-length ivory silk gown that celebrated every line of my recovered, radiant figure. My dark hair fell in glossy waves over my shoulders, my hazel eyes shining with absolute, unshakeable victory, inner peace, and sovereign grace.
Victor Romano stood at a quiet table near the edge of the lawn, holding a glass of sunlit cider. He didn't intrude. He didn't ask for a dance. He simply raised his glass toward me from across the lawn, offering a soft, humble, repentant smile.
Dr. Alexander Reed walked up beside me near the balustrade, holding two glasses of sunlit champagne, handing one to me under the warm spring sky.
"Look at this empire, Elena," Alexander smiled warmly, his hazel eyes shining with deep, genuine pride. "You reclaimed your life and built a haven for thousands of women."
I looked out over the vast, sparkling blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean stretching before us into the unbroken horizon, feeling a deep, weightless peace settle into every corner of my soul.
"I didn't build it out of anger, Alexander," I answered softly, clinking my glass gently against his under the spring sun. "I built it because I remembered who I was before I let a man make me feel invisible."
Bridget Colton raised her champagne glass from the primary table, her clear, strong baritone carrying cleanly across the quiet grounds.

"To Chairwoman Elena Romano!" Bridget toasted with deep, genuine pride. "The sovereign woman who survived the dark, conquered the storm, and claimed her true home!"
"To Elena!" the entire terrace echoed in a warm, triumphant chorus, dozens of crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.
