Chapter 6 - The Trap SprungVictor Vance jumped out of his chair, his hands slamming flat onto the linen tablecloth, his face turning an ugly shade of mottled red. "YOU LITTEL BITCH! You think dressing up in expensive silk makes you a Vance?! You are Clara’s broke bastard daughter!"

"Watch your tongue, Victor," Roman’s voice cut through the room like a cold steel blade.
Roman didn't raise his voice. He stood up slowly from his seat, his six-foot-two frame casting a long, terrifying shadow across the table.
"Maeve Carter is the sole legal owner of thirty percent of the Cape May port terminals," Roman announced flatly. "And as of five o'clock this afternoon... she has executed an exclusive, ninety-nine-year commercial lease granting the Falcone family complete operational control over those docks."
Victor’s jaw sagged open in total, speech-bound horror. "YOU WHAT?!"
"I signed the lease, Uncle," I revealed, stepping up beside Roman’s shoulder, looking down at Victor with a cold, absolute disdain. "The same lease my mother refused to give you twenty years ago."
"Kill them!" Victor screamed, waving his hand frantically toward his six security guards. "KILL THEM ALL AND TAKE THE DEEDS!"
THWIP! THWIP! THWIP!
Before Victor’s guards could even reach beneath their jackets, three suppressed rounds fired by Declan and Gabriel from beneath the table disabled the weapons of the lead guards with surgical precision.
Simultaneously, the double doors surrounding the dining room were thrown open as twenty fully armed Falcone operators swept into the room, their submachine guns trained directly on Victor’s men.
"DROP YOUR WEAPONS! NOW!" Declan bellowed, his voice echoing like thunder.
Victor’s guards dropped their sidearms onto the Persian rug, raising their hands in total, terrified surrender.
Two federal agents from the Department of Justice stepped through the main archway, holding an official arrest warrant.
"Victor Vance," the lead agent announced cleanly, "you are under arrest for high-level tax fraud, illegal land extortion, and the predatory foreclosure scheme executed against Clara Vance."

Victor thrashed wildly as heavy steel handcuffs locked around his wrists. He looked at me, his eyes wide with pure, pathetic rage. "Maeve! You ruined our family legacy!"
"My mother was the legacy, Victor," I said softly as he was dragged away in chains. "And you aren't fit to say her name."
