Chapter 7 - Sovereign of the UnderworldThree months later, the sweeping oceanfront gardens of the Moretti estate in the Hamptons were illuminated by thousands of fairy lights strung through the ancient oak trees.

The war with Julian Vance had ended not with a bloodbath, but with a total, crushing financial and legal checkmate. Armed with the original founding trusts recovered from my sealed adoption files, Bridget Colton and my legal team had systematically dismantled Vance’s shipping empire, freezing his assets and driving his syndicate into federal receivership. Julian Vance was currently awaiting trial in a maximum-security federal penitentiary.

Standing on the grand marble terrace, wearing a breathtaking, custom-designed ivory silk gown that hugged my figure with effortless grace, I looked out over the sparkling expanse of the Atlantic Ocean.

Around my neck hung a delicate platinum pendant bearing the Moretti family crest—the final piece of my true heritage, restored to its rightful place.

Footsteps echoed softly behind me. Strong, familiar arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me back against a solid, comforting chest. Dante rested his chin on my shoulder, inhaling the scent of my hair with a deep, contented sigh.

"You look breathtaking, Donna Olivia," Dante whispered against my ear, his voice thick with unadulterated adoration.

I smiled, leaning my head back against his shoulder. "Donna Olivia? That still sounds like I'm playing a character in a movie."

"It's not a character," Dante said firmly, turning me around so I was facing him. He looked magnificent in his custom black tuxedo, his gray eyes shining with an absolute, radiant peace. "You survived the dark, you tamed the most dangerous beast in Manhattan, and you brought light back into a house that had been dead for twenty years."

As if on cue, a massive black shape trotted out onto the terrace. Orion strolled up to us, his tail wagging happily. He sat down gracefully at my feet, letting out a soft, contented sigh.

Dante reached out, taking my hand in his, sliding a ten-carat emerald-cut diamond signet ring onto my finger—the official Seal of the Moretti Family Matriarch.

"To the queen of my heart, and the sovereign of my soul," Dante murmured, his voice ringing with pure, eternal devotion.

I smiled, lifting my hand to cup his cheek, feeling the steady, powerful beat of his pulse beneath my fingers.

"I love you, Dante," I whispered.

"And I love you, Olivia," he replied, pulling me into a fierce, passionate embrace as the applause of our guests echoed across the ocean breeze.

The struggling, exhausted waitress was gone forever. I had claimed my true home, my true family, and the most feared mafia boss in New York had surrendered his heart completely to me.
