Chapter 7 - Unbroken and Forever SovereignSix months after the rainy morning at Pier 4, the warm spring sun broke brightly over the manicured green terraces of our grand oceanfront estate in Long Island.

The war with the Fitzpatrick syndicate had concluded with absolute, crushing finality.

Declan Fitzpatrick was convicted of Eighteen Federal Counts of Racketeering, Wire Fraud, and Attempted Murder, receiving a sentence of thirty years in a federal maximum-security penitentiary without the possibility of early parole.

The Fitzpatrick family assets were fully liquidated, their shipping leases absorbed into the legal corporate holdings of Duca Enterprises.

On a warm, clear afternoon in late May, the wide stone terrace overlooking the dark blue waters of the sound was set with long white-linen tables, fresh white orchids, and sunlit champagne for a grand family celebration.

Over one hundred international partners, legal team members, corporate directors, and family captains gathered around the candlelit tables, enjoying fine food and live classical music.

I stood near the marble balustrade wearing a breathtaking, floor-length emerald silk dress that caught the afternoon sunlight like liquid gold. Around my neck rested a new five-carat flawless diamond necklace—a gift from Mateo engraved with the words: MY QUEEN, MY HOME.

Mateo stepped up behind me, wearing an immaculate dark navy suit, wrapping his broad, warm arms around my waist, pulling my back flush against his chest.

He pressed a sweet, lingering kiss against my temple, his gray eyes shining with an absolute, unshakeable devotion.

"What are you thinking about, my love?" Mateo whispered softly into my ear.

I looked out over the vast, sparkling blue water stretching before us into the unbroken horizon, feeling a deep, weightless peace settle into every corner of my soul.

"I was thinking about the night in the ballroom," I answered softly, turning in his arms to rest my hands against his chest. "When you locked the doors."

Mateo offered a rare, breathtaking smile—a look of pure, eternal love that lit up his handsome features.

"I locked those doors so no one could escape my wrath, Vivienne," Mateo promised, leaning down to press his lips softly, fiercely against mine in a deep, unhurried kiss. "And I unlocked them so the world could see who rules this city beside me."

Lorenzo stepped up onto the primary terrace stage, raising his champagne glass toward the bright blue sky, his deep voice carrying clear and warm across the quiet lawn.

"A toast!" Lorenzo announced cleanly. "To Don Mateo and Donna Vivienne Duca! The sovereign leaders who rule our empire with unbroken strength, truth, and eternal love!"

"To Mateo and Vivienne!" the entire terrace echoed in a warm, triumphant chorus, one hundred glasses clinking together in the golden sunlight.

Mateo raised his glass, taking a slow sip of fine champagne, pulling me tight against his beating heart under the vast, open sky.

There were no cold elevators filled with silence. There were no fake games played in crowded ballrooms. There were no shadows left unsaid.

The lonely wife was dead forever. The sovereign matriarch had claimed her throne.

And standing under the vast, unbroken sky, wrapped in the arms of the man who loved me, holding my head high, I knew that my life, my heart, and my future were finally, beautifully, and forever home.
