Chapter 7 - Sunday Morning LightThree months later, the suburban house was filled with the soft, beautiful sounds of a real home.

Bright Sunday morning sunlight poured through the large bay windows of the living room, warming the oak floors where a soft baby playmat was spread out. Gabriel was babbling happily at a dangling mobile, while Grace slept soundly in her bassinet nearby, her tiny chest rising and falling in perfect rhythm.

In the kitchen, the rich, comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and pancakes filled the air.

Adam stood at the stove, flipping a golden-brown pancake onto a ceramic plate. He felt two gentle arms slide around his waist, and a soft kiss pressed against his shoulder blade.

"Smells amazing," Lily murmured, resting her cheek against his back.

"Special Sunday breakfast for my favorite people," Adam smiled, turning around to wrap his arms around her, pulling her close.

There were no whispers in the dark anymore. No locked doors. No toxic phone calls from the Gold Coast. Just the quiet, unbreakable rhythm of a life they had fought tooth and nail to build together.

Lily looked out past the kitchen window, where the autumn leaves were giving way to the first gentle touches of winter snow falling softly over the lawn.

"Do you ever think about... them?" Lily asked softly, her voice carrying no bitterness, only a quiet wonder.

Adam followed her gaze outside, shaking his head. "No. The past belongs to people who live in the dark, Lily. We live in the light now."

From the living room, little Gabriel let out a happy gurgle, as if agreeing with his father.

Adam kissed the top of Lily’s head, feeling the profound weight of peace settle into his soul. They had survived the worst night of their lives, and in doing so, they had discovered the true strength of a love that nothing in this world could ever break.
