Chapter 7 - THE ARCHITECT OF DESTINYOne year later.

The grand ballroom of the Sterling Hotel was lit with thousands of warm, twinkling fairy lights and lush white orchids.

It was the exact same ballroom where my world had collapsed eighteen months earlier. But tonight, it belonged to a completely different story.

Over three hundred guests—including Chicago’s most influential leaders, philanthropists, and international business partners—were standing, clapping, and raising their champagne glasses in a thunderous toast.

I stood on the center stage wearing a sweeping off-the-shoulder white lace gown that flowed around my feet like ocean foam.

Beside me stood Dominic Bell, looking impossibly handsome in a black velvet tuxedo, his hand wrapped securely around mine, his wedding band glittering under the crystal chandeliers.

"Ladies and gentlemen," the mayor of Chicago spoke into the microphone, raising his glass toward us. "To Dominic and Vivian Bell! The true power couple of Chicago!"

The crowd cheered loudly.

I leaned my head against Dominic’s shoulder, listening to the warm ambient music, looking out at the glittering room.

I was no longer the quiet, insecure girl hiding behind a manipulative fiancé. I was the CEO of an international enterprise, a woman who owned her own legacy, and a wife loved by a man who respected every fiber of my being.

Dominic leaned down, his warm lips brushing against my ear.

"What are you thinking about, Mrs. Bell?" he whispered playfully.

"I was just thinking," I smiled, turning in his arms to look into his beautiful gray eyes, "about how lucky I was to grab the sleeve of the right stranger."

"It wasn't luck, my love," Dominic whispered back, cupping my face gently in his large, warm hands. "Your mother built the foundation. You built the tower. I was just the man smart enough to open the door."

He leaned down and kissed me—not a fake kiss to impress a crowd, but a deep, passionate, promises-kept kiss that echoed through my soul.

The ballroom applauded, cameras flashed, and the city lights outside twinkled like a million stars across Lake Michigan.

The dark past was gone.

The truth had won.

And our empire of love had just begun.
