Chapter 7 - Unbroken and Forever HomeSix months after the night at Maverick’s, the golden spring sun broke warmly over the soaring stone terraces of the Markov Estate in Lake Forest.

The criminal trial of The State v. Trevor Ashford & Harper Lane had concluded with absolute, crushing finality.
Trevor Ashford was convicted of Fourteen Federal Counts of Grand Embezzlement, Estate Forgery, and Wire Theft, receiving a sentence of eighteen years in a federal maximum-security penitentiary without the possibility of parole.
Harper Lane received six years in a state facility, her luxury wardrobes and offshore bank accounts fully repossessed to satisfy civil restitution orders.
Meanwhile, my father's four-million-dollar inheritance trust was fully restored, funding the Camilla Markov Foundation for Victims of Financial Fraud.
On a warm, clear afternoon in late May, the wide terrace overlooking Lake Michigan was set with long white-linen tables, fresh flowers, and sunlit champagne for a grand celebration.
I stood near the marble balustrade wearing a breathtaking ivory silk gown that caught the afternoon sunlight like liquid gold. Around my neck rested a flawless solitaire diamond necklace—a gift from Adrian.
Down on my left hand rested a seven-carat flawless emerald-cut diamond ring set in platinum.
Adrian walked out onto the terrace wearing a tailored dark navy suit, stepping up behind me, wrapping his broad, warm arms around my waist, pulling my back flush against his chest.
He pressed a sweet, lingering kiss against my temple, his gray eyes shining with an absolute, unshakeable devotion.
"What are you thinking about, malaya?" Adrian whispered softly into my ear.
I looked out over the vast, sparkling blue waters of Lake Michigan stretching before us into the unbroken horizon, feeling a deep, weightless peace settle into every corner of my soul.
"I was thinking about the night at Maverick’s," I answered softly, turning in his arms to look up into his scarred, handsome face. "When I asked a dangerous stranger to kiss me."
Adrian offered a rare, breathtaking smile—a look of pure, eternal love that lit up his features.

"You asked for a kiss, Camilla," Adrian promised, leaning down to press his lips softly, fiercely against mine in a deep, unhurried kiss. "And you found your home."
Outside our estate walls, the world continued to spin, but standing inside the warm, unbroken sanctuary of his arms, holding his hand, I knew that my life, my freedom, and my future were finally, beautifully, and forever home.
