Chapter 7 - The Crown Built on LoveSome stories begin in the dark, bathed in tears and waiting. But the best stories end in the light, surrounded by the people who kept their promises.

Six months later.
The summer sun shone brilliantly over the rolling green hills of Pinewood, New Hampshire.
In the center of the town’s historic garden estate—just two miles from the diner where Hazel used to work the breakfast shift—hundreds of white orchids bloomed under a clear blue sky.
The entire town had gathered. The diner owner, Mae, sat in the front row wiping happy tears from her eyes, alongside Hazel’s uncle Gregory, who looked prouder than he had ever been in his life.
Soft classical violin music floated through the warm breeze.
I stood near the marble altar wearing an exquisite lace gown that trailed softly over the grass. My hair was styled in gentle waves, braided with white wild roses, and a simple pearl necklace rested against my collarbone—the only gift from my late mother.
Standing at the altar waiting for me was Wyatt.
He looked impossibly handsome in a tailored black tuxedo. But his eyes weren't focused on his status, his money, or his company. They were focused entirely on me, glowing with an intense, boundless devotion that made my heart leap in my chest.
Beside him stood little Daisy, now nearly two years old, wearing a tiny white flower-girl dress, happily tossing pink rose petals onto the grass with a joyful laugh.
Wyatt took my hands as I stepped up beside him, pressing his thumbs gently over my knuckles.
"Fifteen months ago," Wyatt said, his voice vibrating with deep, emotional power, "I told you to give me time. I promised I would come back and keep you safe. I was late, Hazel... but I will spend every single day of the rest of my life making up for every second we lost."
Tears of pure happiness welled in my eyes. "You came back, Wyatt. That's all that matters."
The minister smiled, looking at us both. "By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Wyatt didn't hesitate. He pulled me gently into his arms, dipping me slightly as he pressed his lips to mine in a deep, passionate kiss that sealed our future forever.
The entire crowd erupted into thunderous cheers and applause.

Wyatt pulled back, looking down at me, then scooped little Daisy up into his arms, holding us both tightly against his heart.
I looked out at the sunlit gardens, feeling the cool mountain breeze kiss my skin. I was no longer the lonely girl waiting for a letter that never came. I was Hazel Coleman—a mother, a wife, and the undisputed queen of a love that no amount of money could ever break.
