Chapter 6 - The Fall of the DynastyTrue justice isn't just winning the fight; it's watching your enemies reap exactly what they sowed.

One month later.

The fall of the Sterling family and Evelyn Coleman was swift, brutal, and absolute.

Victoria Sterling was denied bail and sentenced to fifteen years in federal prison for attempted murder and bribery. The Sterling Group went into immediate bankruptcy as financial institutions pulled their backing following the public scandal.

Evelyn Coleman faced a total loss of her status.

Stripped of her board seat, her executive accounts frozen, and facing multiple lawsuits for mail fraud, corporate conspiracy, and illegal interception of documents, she was forced to sell her grand Manhattan estate to pay her legal fees.

On a quiet Tuesday afternoon, Hazel walked into a modest retirement home in upstate New York.

Evelyn sat in a simple armchair by the window, wearing a plain cardigan, looking old, frail, and defeated. The woman who had once ruled New York society was now completely alone.

She looked up as Hazel walked in, carrying a small leather file folder.

"Did you come to gloat?" Evelyn asked, her voice raspy and bitter. "Come to see the great Evelyn Coleman reduced to this?"

Hazel set the file folder down on the small table beside her.

"No," Hazel said quietly. "I came to bring you these."

Evelyn opened the folder. Inside were official photos of little Daisy—smiling, playing in a bright green garden, healthy and loved. Beneath the photos was a monthly allowance agreement, funded entirely by Hazel’s trust, guaranteeing that Evelyn’s housing and medical care would be paid for comfortably for the rest of her life.

Evelyn stared at the papers, her hands trembling. "Why...? After everything I did to you... why would you do this?"

"Because unlike you, Mrs. Coleman," Hazel said softly, looking her straight in the eye, "I don't believe in using money to hurt people. I don't want Daisy to grow up knowing her grandmother was left on the street. I am giving you grace—not because you earned it, but because my daughter deserves a family built on mercy, not hatred."

Tears finally filled Evelyn’s cold blue eyes. She looked down at the photo of her granddaughter—the little girl she had tried to buy away—and for the first time in her life, a heavy sob of genuine remorse escaped her chest.

"I'm sorry, Hazel..." Evelyn whispered, bowing her head in defeat. "I was so wrong..."

Hazel didn't answer. She simply turned around and walked out into the warm afternoon sun, leaving the past behind forever.
