Chapter 7 - The Crown and the New DawnOne year later.

The penthouse suite of my new glass-and-steel tower in Polanco offered a breathtaking, unobstructed view of Mexico City at sunset. The sky was painted in brilliant shades of amber, violet, and deep crimson, mirroring the vibrant energy of a city that never truly slept.

I stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, holding a crystal glass of sparkling water, wearing a soft ivory silk blouse and tailored trousers. The heavy armor of the courtroom battles and corporate purges was gone, replaced by a profound, unshakeable peace that I hadn't felt in over a decade.

The heavy oak doors of my private office clicked open.

Marcus walked in, carrying a thick leather portfolio. He stopped beside me, looking out at the skyline with a satisfied smile.

"The final liquidation of the Bosques de las Lomas estate cleared this morning," Marcus announced, handing me a single finalized document. "The proceeds have been fully reinvested into our green energy logistics subsidiary in Guadalajara. It's already projecting a thirty percent quarterly return."

"Excellent work, Marcus," I smiled, signing my name across the bottom line with a heavy gold fountain pen. "How are things looking on the international expansion front?"

"We just closed the partnership deal with the European tech consortium," Marcus laughed, shaking his head in disbelief. "You're officially heading the largest logistics merger in the country's history. Business journals are already calling you the 'Titan of Polanco'."

I looked down at the signature on the page—Sofía Aguilar.

No hyphenated compromises. No hidden titles. No parasitic partners dragging me down or mocking my work ethic behind my back. Just my name, standing tall and absolute at the very summit of the corporate world.

Later that evening, after Marcus left and the office grew quiet, I walked out onto the private wrap-around terrace of the penthouse. The evening breeze was warm and carried the faint scent of rain and blooming jacaranda trees.

I held up my right hand, catching the last rays of sunlight against the platinum band resting on my finger. It wasn't a wedding ring anymore. It was a custom-engraved heirloom band featuring a brilliant emerald-cut diamond that I had purchased for myself—a permanent, unbreakable covenant with my own strength, my own intelligence, and my own future.

Down below on the bustling streets of Polanco, cars streamed past like rivers of light. People rushed home to their families, lovers walked hand in hand, and the world spun on its axis with indifferent, beautiful momentum.

Mauricio was currently sitting in a federal detention cell hundreds of miles away, spending his days scrubbing floors and reflecting on the empire he had tried to steal and the woman he had foolishly thrown away. Valeria had long since moved on, her social media accounts deleted, her short-lived fairy tale dissolved into the harsh reality of single motherhood and public disgrace.

They had believed they could use me, mock me, and discard me while living off the sweat of my brow. They had thought their secret honeymoon and their staged wedding photos were the ultimate victory.

They had no idea that the moment they locked me out, they had simply freed me to conquer the world.

I took a slow, calm sip of my water, lifted my chin toward the horizon, and smiled as the first stars began to pierce the evening sky.

The gates were locked, the past was burned to ash, and my true reign was only just beginning.
