Chapter 7 - A New LegacyTwo years later.

The spring sunlight poured through the glass doors of our lakeside estate, warming the polished oak floors and filling the air with the sound of pure, unadulterated joy.
Out on the emerald lawn, a two-year-old toddler with dark curls and stubborn gray eyes was chasing a golden retriever puppy, shrieking with laughter as he stumbled over his own feet.
I sat on the white wicker porch swing, sipping fresh iced tea while drafting landscape designs on my tablet.
Heavy, familiar arms wrapped around my shoulders from behind, and a strong chin rested comfortably on the top of my head.
“You’re working too hard again, architect,” Ethan murmured, his breath warm against my ear.
“I’m just finishing the community center layout for the downtown charity project,” I smiled, tilting my head back to look up at him.
He wore a simple linen shirt and jeans—no tailored Italian suits, no Rolex watches, no corporate armor. Just a man who had traded his empire for a family, and never looked back once.
Ethan chuckled, pressing a soft kiss to my temple before looking out over the lawn where our son had just tackled the puppy into a pile of freshly cut grass.
“Remember when you thought I was just a cold machine?” Ethan whispered playfully.
“I didn't think it, Ethan. You acted like one,” I teased back, elbowing him gently in the ribs.
“True,” he admitted, laughing as he pulled me tighter against his chest, resting his hand over mine. “Thank God you had more patience than I deserved. Because if you had stayed on that bus all the way to Boston... my life really would have gone on. But it wouldn't have been living.”
I turned in his embrace, wrapping my arms around his neck, my heart full to bursting with a love that had survived the harshest winter and blossomed into something eternal.

“Well,” I whispered against his lips just before he kissed me, “good thing I decided to give you another negotiation round.”
And as our son’s laughter echoed across the lake, wrapped in the safe, enduring warmth of the home we built together, I knew the story of the ice-cold billionaire and his runaway wife had finally found its true, perfect ending.
