Chapter 7 - The Brightest HorizonThe sun was setting behind the western skyline, painting the clouds in brilliant shades of amber, violet, and deep rose.

I stood on the private terrace of my penthouse apartment, holding a warm cup of herbal tea, watching the city lights flicker on one by one as night fell across the metropolis.

The wind was cool against my skin, carrying the crisp scent of changing seasons.

My phone rested on the glass table beside me, completely silent. No desperate messages. No midnight demands. No threats from a husband who thought he owned my life.

The penthouse was mine. The company was mine. My future was entirely my own to write.

Behind me, the glass door slid open softly.

Jeffrey stepped out onto the terrace, holding a final set of briefing documents for the morning’s international trade summit. He stopped a few feet away, smiling warmly.

“Everything is set for Tokyo tomorrow, Lena,” Jeffrey said, his voice relaxed and confident. “The regional directors are flying in tonight, and the joint-venture agreements are fully vetted and ready for your signature.”

I turned around, leaning back against the terrace railing, and smiled.

“Thank you, Jeffrey. I’ll review them in the morning before takeoff.”

He nodded, turning to head back inside, before pausing and looking out at the glittering skyline. “It’s a beautiful view from up here.”

“It is,” I agreed quietly, looking out over the vast, glowing horizon.

“It really is.”

As Jeffrey stepped back inside and the glass door slid shut, I took a slow sip of my tea, feeling the warmth spread through me.

The night at the grand ballroom—the cold champagne, the shattered glass, the cruel words whispered under the crystal chandelier—felt like a lifetime ago. Richard had tried to destroy me by pushing me into the dark.

Instead, he had forced me to turn on the lights.

And from this height, standing in the brilliant, unyielding clarity of my own strength, the horizon had never looked brighter.
