Chapter 7 - Crown of Gold and RainSix months later, the rain was falling gently over the Hudson River, but inside the glass-walled conservatory of the Viscari estate, it was warm and filled with the scent of blooming white orchids and cedarwood.

The media called it the wedding of the century—though no cameras, reporters, or tabloids were allowed within a mile of the property. It was an intimate gathering of family, loyal associates, and friends who had survived the firestorm of the past.
I stood before the full-length mirror in a gown of fluid ivory silk, my hair pinned back with delicate diamond-encrusted silver pins. Around my neck hung the restored silver locket—not as a burden or a cipher to a dark past, but as a reminder of where I came from and the strength it took to survive.
The oak door swung open softly, and Adrien stepped inside.
He stopped dead in his tracks. For the third time since we had met, the man who commanded empires looked completely lost for words.
"You take my breath away, Lena," he whispered, walking slowly across the room until he stood right behind me, his hands resting lightly on my hips, his chin dropping to rest against my shoulder.
I looked at our reflection in the mirror—the mafia king and the woman who had shattered his world only to rebuild it alongside him.
"You clean up nice yourself, Mr. Viscari," I teased softly, turning my head to press a kiss to his cheek.
Adrien smiled, a genuine, radiant smile that reached his eyes, completely chasing away the shadows of the past. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small velvet box, opening it to reveal a wedding band forged of white gold entwined with delicate vines of platinum.
"Before we go down there," Adrien said, turning me gently to face him, his voice thick with emotion, "I want you to know something. Every empire I built, every safehouse, every dollar—it all belongs to you now. You aren't just safe with me, Lena. You are my equal. My partner. My home."
Tears of absolute happiness pricked my eyes. I reached out, taking the ring from the velvet box and sliding it onto his finger, feeling the solid, enduring weight of it.

"And you are mine, Adrien," I whispered fiercely. "No secrets. No shadows. Just us."
He pulled me against him, his lips meeting mine in a deep, sweeping kiss that tasted of forever. Outside, the rain drummed a gentle, rhythmic lullaby against the glass, washing away the last ghosts of the past, and welcoming a future built on truth, fierce loyalty, and an unbreakable, eternal love.
