Chapter 7 - Dawn Over the EstateThe morning sun broke over the Hanoi-like tropical expanse of the Sterling estate—wait, let's keep it grounded in the cinematic estate setting—breaking through the clearing clouds to paint the manicured lawns in brilliant gold and emerald green. The storm had washed away every trace of dust, soot, and sorrow from the previous night, leaving the world crisp, vibrant, and renewed.

Inside the grand kitchen, the smell of freshly brewed coffee, toasted brioche, and sweet pancakes filled the air.

Leo and Toby sat at the kitchen island, laughing loudly as they competed to see who could stack the most blueberries on top of their syrup-drenched pancakes.

Clara stood by the stove, flipping a golden-brown pancake with a practiced, effortless grace, wearing a simple linen apron over a comfortable sweater. Her left wrist, once bearing the jagged scar of a tragic night, was now wrapped in the warm, bright morning light.

Andrew walked into the kitchen, dressed casually in a simple dark t-shirt and jeans—a stark contrast to the formal, suffocating tuxedos of his past life. He walked up behind Clara, wrapping his arms around her waist and resting his chin softly on her shoulder.

"Good morning, Mrs. Sterling," he murmured into her ear, smiling as she tilted her head back against his chest.

"Good morning, Mr. Sterling," Clara replied, turning slightly in his embrace to hand him a hot mug of black coffee. "Sleep well?"

"For the first time in three years, I actually slept," Andrew said, taking a sip of the coffee before pressing a soft, lingering kiss to her temple.

From across the kitchen island, nine-year-old Leo grinned widely, nudging his younger brother. "Mom, Dad's being all cheesy again!"

Toby giggled, covering his mouth with a maple-syrup-stained hand. "Are you guys gonna kiss again? Because gross!"

Andrew and Clara laughed in unison, the sound warm, bright, and ringing with a happiness that felt entirely permanent.

The past was ash, blown away by the wind. The future was unwritten, waiting for them to fill its pages with laughter, safety, and love. Andrew looked down at his wife, then over at his two healthy, smiling sons, and realized with absolute certainty that some fairy tales didn't end with a tragedy in the dark—they ended right here, in the bright, beautiful light of a brand-new day.
