Chapter 4 - The Boston Clinic and the Miracle ProtocolThe clinic in Boston did not look like a medical facility; it looked like a five-star luxury hotel overlooking the Charles River. There were no plastic chairs, no screaming children, and no harried receptionists with clipboards.

When I stepped off the elevator on the penthouse floor, a tall, impeccably dressed man with sharp features and silver-rimmed glasses stepped forward.

"Mrs. Blackwood—pardon me, Ms. Miller," the man said with a warm, commanding voice, extending his hand. "I am Dr. Aaron Vance. Garrison called me. It is an honor to finally meet you."

I blinked, surprised. "Garrison called you?"

"Garrison saved my son’s life during a kidnapping investigation twenty years ago when he was still chief inspector in Chicago," Dr. Vance explained, guiding me down a softly lit hallway toward a private consultation suite. "When he asks me to take care of someone, I don't just open my schedule—I clear the floor."

Over the next two weeks, I underwent a battery of tests that left my previous local clinic look like a medieval apothecary. Dr. Vance and a multidisciplinary team of geneticists, endocrinologists, and reproductive surgeons analyzed every aspect of my health. Their verdict was as liberating as it was shocking:

"Your reproductive health is entirely sound, Chloe," Dr. Vance told me, reviewing a digital holographic scan on his desk. "The previous miscarriages and failures were entirely the result of systemic stress and, frankly, exposure to low-grade hormonal suppressants that were present in your previous environment. Your body is strong, resilient, and primed for successful conception—provided we use donor genetics from a screened, elite tier, or..."

He paused, looking down at a sealed confidential file marked with a red wax seal—a file Garrison had personally handed me before I left Cedar Hollow.

"Or what?" I asked.

Dr. Vance’s expression softened. "Or we utilize the genetic sample preserved by a very specific, highly trusted donor who went through comprehensive vetting under my direct supervision prior to my retirement from active clinical trials."

My breath caught. "Who?"

Dr. Vance didn't answer directly. Instead, he smiled gently. "Let’s focus on the procedure first, Chloe. You are going to be surrounded by the best medical team money can buy. And trust me... the results are going to change your life in ways you cannot possibly imagine."

The procedure itself was a blur of high-tech precision—painless, seamless, and executed with an aura of absolute perfection. And then came the waiting two weeks, spent in a luxury recovery suite overlooking the Boston skyline, financed entirely by a retired sheriff who believed in balancing the scales of the world.

When the blood test results finally flashed green on Dr. Vance’s tablet, the head nurse nearly wept.

"Positive, Chloe," Dr. Vance beamed, handing me the digital printout. "And not just positive. Strong hCG levels. Exceptional progesterone stability."

I stared at the screen, tears pricking my eyes. But the real shock came during the first ultrasound at week eight.

Dr. Vance pressed the cold transducer against my abdomen, staring intently at the high-definition monitor. A slow, knowing smile spread across his face. He turned the screen toward me.

"Well, Chloe," Dr. Vance chuckled softly. "It appears you’re not just having a baby. You’re having twins. Two strong, perfectly healthy heartbeats."
