Chapter 6 - The Gala at the DrakeIn late September 2026, the grand ballroom of the Drake Hotel in downtown Chicago was packed to absolute capacity for the inaugural Claire Bennett Foundation Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, medical directors, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.
Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk gown that celebrated my tall, athletic figure, was me.
Around my neck hung a delicate diamond pendant, my dark hair falling in glossy waves over my shoulders, my hazel eyes burning with absolute, unshakeable victory, inner peace, and sovereign grace.
Beside the stage stood Gabriel Moretti, looking magnificent in a dark charcoal bespoke tuxedo, his broad frame squared, his gray eyes shining with intense, unshakeable pride.
Beside him stood Luca Ferraro and Marcus Vance.
I adjusted the microphone, my clear, steady voice echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:
"Four months ago, I walked into a penthouse where four nurses had already fled," I announced to the silent ballroom, my voice carrying a quiet, silver authority. "And on that night, I learned that healing isn't just about medicine... it is about having the courage to stand in the dark and reveal the truth."
I held my champagne glass high under the glittering lights.
"To life, truth, and unbroken strength!"

"To Claire!" the entire room erupted into a warm, unanimous standing ovation, five hundred crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.
Gabriel walked up onto the stage, stepping beside me, taking my hand in his broad, warm palm, bringing it to his lips for a slow, lingering kiss under the applause of Chicago's elite.
