Chapter 6 - Breaking the SilenceThe next morning, the financial district of Manhattan woke up to an earthquake.

Across every major news outlet, digital ticker, and broadsheet newspaper, a stunning, full-page public declaration dominated the headlines:

MORETTI CAPITAL GROUP ANNOUNCES CHAIRMAN’S MARRIAGE.

Adrian Moretti proudly confirms his three-year marriage to financial analyst and partner Claire Bennett-Moretti, and announces the upcoming birth of their first child.

In high-society circles, champagne glasses froze mid-air. Syndicate elders held emergency meetings behind closed doors. Vanessa Russo’s publicist was bombarded with frantic calls she couldn't answer.

The untouchable ghost of the Moretti empire had just stepped out of the shadows and into the blinding glare of public truth.

Up in the Hudson Valley farmhouse, the morning snow was melting under a brilliant, crisp winter sun.

I stood by the front window, holding a freshly brewed cup of coffee, watching the digital alert flash across my phone screen.

Adrian stood behind me, his arms wrapped securely around my waist, his chin resting gently on my shoulder. We watched the world react together.

“They’re going to talk about this for months,” I murmured, leaning back against his chest.

“Let them talk,” Adrian whispered into my hair, his arms tightening around me. “Let the whole world talk. From now on, nobody ever has to wonder whose side I’m on.”

There were still hurdles ahead—legal restructuring, corporate fallout, and the complex, dangerous task of reshaping an empire that had operated in the dark for decades. But as I turned around in his embrace and looked up into his eyes, I knew the most important battle was already won.

The secret was dead. The waiting was over.

And for the first time in three years, I was home.
