Chapter 2 - The Audit of the Traitor’s LedgerBy 4:30 A.M., the storm outside had settled into a steady, rhythmic rain.

Inside the estate's private, soundproof underground interrogation suite beneath the west wing, the atmosphere was dead silent.
Dean Russo was zip-tied to a heavy iron chair in the center of the room. His slicked-back hair was disheveled, his expensive silk shirt torn, blood dripping from his lip. Standing around him were Adrian Moretti, Senior Corporate Prosecutor Bridget Colton, and Lieutenant Colonel Marcus Vance, head of Vance Tactical Security.
Bridget Colton opened three heavy, red-sealed leather binders, sliding digital ledgers and wiretap transcripts flat onto the metal table before Dean:
"Dean," Bridget spoke flatly, her sharp blue eyes holding surgical professional fury. "The forensic audit into your private accounts over the last forty-eight hours is complete."
Dean spat blood onto the concrete floor, sneering arrogantly. "You ain't got nothing, Bridget! The Don is taking the word of a thirty-dollar-an-hour maid over his top lieutenant!"
Adrian stepped out of the shadows.
He didn't raise his fist. He didn't scream. He simply walked over and placed his broad, calloused hand flat on Dean’s shoulder, pressing down with just enough force to make the heavy iron chair groan under the weight. Dean’s arrogant sneer instantly shattered into a whimpering gasp of terror.
"Read the ledger, Bridget," Adrian commanded flatly.
Bridget tapped the digital displays:
THE MARSEILLE CARTEL BOUNTY: Proof that Dean Russo accepted a $30 million wire transfer from rival syndicate boss Victor Moretti (Adrian’s corrupt uncle) to orchestrate Adrian’s assassination.
THE SECURITY SABOTAGE: Digital logs proving Dean spent three days planting override chips inside the estate's central mainframe.
THE CLEANUP PLAN: Intercepted messages showing Dean planned to murder Claire Bennett immediately after Adrian was killed, framing her as the internal accomplice to cover his own tracks.
My stomach twisted into a knot of cold fury as I stood near the doorway, wrapped in one of Adrian’s heavy black cashmere coats over my maid's dress.

Dean looked at me, his eyes wide with catatonic horror as he realized that the curvy maid he had dismissed as helpless had dismantled his multi-million-dollar conspiracy in a single night.
"You brought a viper into my house, Dean," Adrian whispered, his gray eyes flashing with an cold, terrifying death sentence. "Marcus, hand him over to the Federal Marshals. And prepare the convoy. We are paying my uncle Victor a visit."
