Chapter 3 - The Boardroom ExecutionAt 11:30 AM, the emergency meeting of the Prescott Global Board of Directors convened in the grand glass boardroom on the forty-second floor.

The atmosphere inside the room was suffocatingly cold. Twelve senior directors sat around the forty-foot mahogany conference table. At the head of the table sat Eleanor Prescott—Aaron’s seventy-two-year-old mother—wearing a dark navy wool suit, her silver hair styled in a rigid chignon, holding a crystal glass of water in her trembling, diamond-adorned hand.

Aaron sat to her right, his tie retied, his suit jacket back on, though his pale face and dark purple circles beneath his eyes betrayed his complete lack of sleep.

Standing in the corner near the window was Jasmine Cole. She wore a high-end designer silk dress, her arms crossed tight over her chest, her eyes wide with a mixture of anger, embarrassment, and panic.

"This entire situation is absurd!" Eleanor declared, slamming her palm flat against the mahogany table, her voice echoing off the glass walls. "My son made a minor personal error in judgment regarding company communications! Claire's public posting on the employee channel was an unhinged, malicious attack designed to humiliate our family name!"

"It wasn't a social media stunt, Eleanor," a senior director named Arthur Vance—no relation to my family—interrupted coldly, tossing a thick manila folder onto the center of the table. "That post was read by five hundred employees before we could shut down the channel. The story is already trending on LinkedIn and local financial news outlets. Our primary institutional investors in New York have put a temporary hold on the Q4 expansion bond."

"We can issue a formal retraction!" Jasmine chimed in, stepping forward, her voice high and defensive. "We can say Claire was dealing with private personal distress! I can draft a corporate press release within an hour—"

"Shut up, Jasmine," Arthur snapped, not even bothering to look at her. "You are the Vice President of Corporate Communications. You are the story."

Aaron stood up slowly from his leather chair, his broad frame casting a shadow over the table. "Claire will settle this quietly. I know my wife. She's upset, she's trying to get my attention because I've been working late hours on the European expansion. I will go to her father's house in Marblehead tonight, I will apologize for the public embarrassment, and we will sign a quiet, private separation agreement that keeps this out of the courts."

Before Arthur could reply, the boardroom doors swung open.

A junior legal assistant stepped into the room, holding three thick, white legal packets stamped with the red seal of the Massachusetts State Superior Court.

"Mr. Prescott," the assistant whispered nervously, stepping toward Aaron. "A process server just delivered these to the lobby. For you, your mother, and Miss Cole."

Aaron snatched the top packet, ripping open the heavy seal.

Printed across the first page in bold, uncompromising black ink were the words: PETITION FOR EMERGENCY INJUNCTION, FORENSIC FINANCIAL AUDIT, AND IMMEDIATE ASSET RESTRAINING ORDER.

Attached to the filing was a complete, certified sixty-page forensic audit detailing every single wire transfer Aaron had made to Jasmine Cole’s Delaware LLC over sixteen months, complete with swift codes, bank routing numbers, and corporate tax registry signatures.

Across the bottom of the cover page was a handwritten note from my attorney, Nathan Brooks:

“To the Board of Directors: A formal copy of this audit, alongside a motion to freeze Prescott Global's port terminal access leases, has been filed with the federal court. Have a productive meeting.”

The room went dead, terrifyingly silent.

Eleanor Prescott stared down at the documents, her face draining of every drop of color until she looked like an marble statue. She slowly raised her head, looking at her son with a mixture of profound shock and horrifying realization.

"Aaron..." Eleanor whispered, her voice cracking into a ragged, pathetic rasp. "What... what did you do?"

Aaron stared at the paper, his hands trembling so violently he dropped the packet onto the polished floorboards, watching the pages scatter across the room like fallen leaves.
