Chapter 5 - The Foreclosure of Legacy(Focus: The legal purge of Richard’s allies, the recovery of the Vance estate, and Arthur’s official return as the Global CEO.)

The weeks following the gala were a whirlwind of legal warfare. The Vance Conglomerate was placed under temporary federal receivership, but with Daniel’s precise legal maneuvers and the mountain of evidence Martha had preserved, the court quickly restored my position as the primary trustee and seventy-percent owner of the company.
Richard’s defense crumbled within days. Faced with the offshore transaction logs and the testimony of the Swiss mechanics who had been paid to sabotage my helicopter, his co-conspirators began to turn on him to save themselves.
Evelyn was stripped of her marital assets, her luxury penthouse was repossessed, and she was forced to return every single piece of jewelry she had purchased using my family’s trust fund—including the diamond necklace she had worn to the gala.
On a bright, crisp Tuesday morning, I stood in the executive boardroom on the top floor of the Vance Tower. The long mahogany table was surrounded by the board of directors—men who had previously bowed to Richard, but who were now sweating in their expensive suits, terrified of what my return meant for their careers.
"Gentlemen," I said, my voice carrying the quiet, undeniable authority my father had possessed. "Over the last six years, this company has been used as a personal bank for a thief. You turned a blind eye to the discrepancies because the profits were high. But that ends today."
I laid out the restructuring plans on the table.
"As of 9:00 AM today, any board member who signed off on Richard’s offshore transfers is terminated, effective immediately. We are rebuilding this company on transparency, honor, and community investment. Our primary development project for the upcoming year will be the construction of the Lily Vance Pediatric Medical Center—a free hospital for low-income families."
The board members nodded frantically, signing the resolutions without a single objection. They knew that I held their professional survival in my hands.
After the meeting, the double doors of the boardroom opened, and Martha walked in, wearing a sharp, elegant business suit instead of her housekeeper’s uniform. I had appointed her as the new Director of Guest Services and Corporate Hospitality for the entire Vance hotel chain.
"The transition is complete, Arthur," Martha smiled, her eyes shining with joy. "The receptionist who tried to turn you away has been terminated, and we’ve implemented a new sensitivity training program across all properties. No family will ever be turned away from our doors again."

"Thank you, Martha," I said, walking over to give her a warm hug. "Without you, I’d still be in the rain."
"You belong here, Arthur," she whispered. "And so does Lily."
