Chapter 7 - The Unbroken DynastySix months later, the spring sun was shining brightly over the rolling green lawns of the Mancini estate in Lake Forest.

The fifty-acre property, once cold, silent, and guarded like a fortress, hummed with a warm, vibrant life. The high stone walls remained, but the gardens were blooming with fresh white roses, lavender, and sweet jasmine.
On the wide stone terrace overlooking the lake, a massive banquet table was set with fine china, fresh fruits, and sparkling cider.
Enzo Caruso—now fully recovered from his injuries—sat near the head of the table, laughing with Marco and our senior captains, while Nurse Hannah Cole, whom I had personally hired as the estate's private medical director, served tea.
I stood near the marble balustrade wearing a comfortable linen shirt and dark trousers, holding a glass of iced water, watching the sparkling blue waves of Lake Michigan.
Footsteps sounded softly on the stone patio.
Elena walked out into the warm sunlight.
She wore a beautiful, flowing cream dress that caught the spring breeze, her dark hair falling in healthy, shining waves over her shoulders. The crescent scar beneath her left eye was still visible—a subtle, beautiful mark of the miracle that had saved both of our lives six months ago.
Under her arm, she carried a thick leather portfolio containing her acceptance letter to the University of Chicago's Pre-Med program.
She walked up beside me, leaning her shoulder gently against mine, looking out at the glittering lake.
"What are you thinking about, Dad?" Elena asked softly, a radiant, happy smile touching her lips.
Dad.
The word still sent a powerful, tearful wave of warmth straight to my heart every single time she spoke it.
I reached out, wrapping my arm gently around her shoulders, pulling my daughter tight against my side, pressing a soft kiss into her dark hair.
"I'm thinking about the coldest Tuesday Chicago had seen in eleven years," I whispered softly into the breeze. "The day I walked into a hospital believing I was a man with no future... and walked out with my entire world."
Elena looked up into my hazel eyes—the exact same eyes that looked back at her—and squeezed my waist tightly.
"We have good blood, Dad," she smiled warmly.

"The best in the city, sweetheart," I swore under the open sky.
Outside the grand iron gates, the world of Chicago continued to spin, but standing on the sunlit terrace, surrounded by the family I had been given a second chance to love, I knew that the Mancini bloodline was no longer a story of shadows and war—it was a legacy of light, unbroken, beautiful, and forever home.
