Chapter 3 - The Assembly at the Grand BallroomAt 10:00 AM the following morning, the soaring mahogany assembly hall of the Manhattan Financial Center on Wall Street was packed to absolute capacity.

Over four hundred prominent real estate moguls, commercial shipping executives, municipal judges, and syndicate capos gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers for the annual Hudson Maritime & Real Estate Ratification.
Sitting at the head of the raised executive table, wearing an expensive silk suit, holding a silver pen, was sixty-year-old Vincent "The Hammer" Lombardi. Beside him sat his arrogant nephew, Frankie Lombardi, smirking as they prepared to sign the corporate acquisition papers that would absorb the Hayes estate into Lombardi Global.
"Gentlemen!" Vincent Lombardi announced into the central microphone, his voice dripping with condescending authority, "today we finalize the corporate buyout of the Hudson Commercial Pier Deeds—"
BOOM!
The heavy double oak doors of the assembly hall were thrown open with a violent, hydraulic impact!
The chatter of four hundred high-society guests vanished into an absolute, speech-bound silence.
Walking down the central red-carpeted aisle, flanked by Chief Security Director Marcus Vance and four armed federal marshals, was Lorenzo Moretti.
He wore a magnificent dark charcoal bespoke suit, his broad six-foot-two frame squared, his dark gray eyes burning with an untouchable, sovereign authority that dropped the room's temperature to absolute zero.
And walking right beside him, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk suit that celebrated her graceful figure, her auburn hair styled in glossy waves over her shoulders, her brown eyes radiant with unshakeable power, was Donna Harper Hayes-Moretti.
Walking behind them, wearing a clean suit, looking healthy and safe, was her younger brother, Leo Hayes.
Frankie Lombardi dropped his champagne glass.
CRASH!
The crystal glass shattered flat against the parquet floorboards, sparkling wine splashing over his designer shoes. His face went from arrogant red to an ugly, paper-white shade of green. Vincent Lombardi stood up so fast he knocked his leather chair over backward.
"L-LORENZO...?! FRANKIE?!" Vincent stammered, taking two panicked steps backward against the table. "WHAT IS THIS ILL-MANNERED INTERRUPTING?! SHE IS JUST A SERVER FROM YOUR RESTAURANT!"
"She isn't a server, Vincent," Lorenzo announced flatly, his clear, deep baritone carrying cleanly across the silent hall, dropping the room's temperature to zero. "She is the Executive Chairwoman of the Hayes-Moretti Maritime Trust... and the woman under my absolute protection."
Bridget Colton stepped forward, sliding a thick stack of court-stamped legal notices flat into Vincent Lombardi’s trembling hands:
TOTAL ASSET RECOVERY: Certified federal enforcement of the original Hayes Pier Deeds, transferring 100% controlling equity directly to Chairwoman Harper Hayes.
ARREST WARRANTS: International arrest warrants served on Vincent Lombardi and Frankie Lombardi for Premeditated Extortion, Kidnapping Conspiracy, Loan-Sharking, and $45 Million Wire Fraud.
IMMEDIATE TERMINATION: Permanent revocation of all board titles and operational credentials held by the Lombardi family across New York.
"THIS IS UNLAWFUL!" Frankie Lombardi shrieked, thrashing as two uniformed federal marshals stepped forward with heavy steel handcuffs. "HER BROTHER OWED US EIGHTY THOUSAND DOLLARS!"
"Her brother owes you nothing, Frankie," Lorenzo corrected deadpan, his gray eyes flashing with a cold, lethal fire. "And now you owe the state thirty years."
