Chapter 5 - The Purge of the PlazaAt 10:00 AM the following morning, the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan was packed to absolute capacity for the Midwest Syndicate & Logistics Assembly.

Over three hundred prominent business leaders, shipping titans, corrupt politicians, and underworld bosses sat around round white-linen tables under glittering crystal chandeliers.

Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing an magnificent charcoal bespoke tuxedo, was Marcus Vale.

At forty-eight, Marcus looked arrogant, victorious, and untouchable. He held a champagne glass high into the air, speaking into the surround-sound microphone:

"For three years, I have carried the burden of managing Moretti Global while our former Don lived as an invalid in the dark!" Marcus announced smoothly, his tone dripping with fake remorse. "Today, we officially vote to transfer all executive voting proxy rights under my direct authority!"

The crowd of three hundred began to applaud.

BOOM!

The heavy double mahogany doors at the rear of the grand ballroom were thrown wide open with a violent, echoing crash!

The applause collapsed into an immediate, speech-bound silence.

Rolling down the central red carpet in an immaculate, polished titanium wheelchair—flanked by Bridget Colton, six armed Vance security officers, and a team of federal marshals—was me.

I wore an magnificent black bespoke tuxedo, my posture tall, imposing, my broad six-foot-two upper frame radiating an absolute, untouchable, sovereign authority.

And sitting beside my chair, holding my hand with effortless grace, wearing a tailored navy silk dress, was Elena Carter.

Marcus Vale dropped his champagne glass. The crystal shattered flat against the marble floorboards, sparkling wine splashing across his designer shoes.

"A-Adrian...?!" Marcus stammered, his face turning an ugly, paper-white shade of green. "YOU... YOU CAN'T BE HERE! THIS IS A PRIVATE BOARD ASSEMBLY!"

I stopped my wheelchair five feet from the podium. I didn't raise my voice. I looked at Marcus with an absolute, weightless disgust that chilled the room to absolute zero.

"You called this meeting to discuss my incapacity, Marcus," I spoke, my deep baritone carrying cleanly through the ballroom’s audio system. "So let us discuss how you became capable of placing a C4 demolition charge under my family's car three years ago."

Bridget Colton tapped a tablet screen, projecting high-definition corporate audits, wiretap audio files, and explosive chemical signatures onto the ballroom’s forty-foot video presentation displays:

THE AUDIO CONFESSION: Recorded calls between Marcus Vale and the cartel bomb technician detailing the placement of the explosive device under my rear axle.

THE EMBEZZLEMENT AUDIT: Certified bank records proving Marcus stole $40 million from the Hudson Shipping Trust and orchestrated the fatal platform collapse.

FEDERAL INDICTMENTS: Arrest warrants served by the United States District Court for Two Counts of Premeditated Murder, Attempted Murder, Extortion, and Systemic Racketeering.

The three hundred syndicate leaders stood up in pure outrage, pointing fingers at Marcus, completely severing all ties with him on the spot.

Lead Marshal Miller stepped forward, holding heavy steel handcuffs.

"Marcus Vale," Marshal Miller declared coldly. "You are under arrest."

The cold steel cuffs locked tightly around Marcus’s wrists behind his back. He thrashed and wept hysterical, pathetic pleas as marshals dragged him out of the Plaza Hotel in total, public disgrace, surrounded by news cameras capturing his downfall for the evening news.
