Chapter 7 - Epilogue — Reigning from the TopOne year after the rainy night that destroyed my old life, the grand terrace of our Hudson River townhouse was transformed into a breathtaking garden of white roses, twinkling fairy lights, and celebration.

It was the first birthday party for Leo, Maya, and Noah.
The guest list was small, intimate, and powerful—consisting only of the trusted medical staff who had saved our lives, loyal executives who had helped rebuild the Hart-Mercer foundation under my direct leadership, and old Arthur Sterling, who now served as chairman of our restructured board.
I stood at the top of the grand marble staircase wearing a flowing, emerald-green silk gown that caught the evening breeze, watching three chubby, laughing toddlers chase each other across the manicured lawn while two golden retrievers gently herded them away from the garden pond.
Julian walked up the stairs beside me, slipping his arm securely around my waist, his dark suit immaculate as always.
“Penny for your thoughts, Mrs. Vane,” he whispered near my ear, his breath warm against my neck.
I leaned my head against his shoulder, smiling as I looked out over the sparkling expanse of the river and the glittering Manhattan skyline rising in the distance like a crown of lights.
“I was just thinking about a year ago,” I murmured softly. “When I stood on Park Avenue in the freezing rain, with a dead debit card and twenty-four hours to disappear.”
Julian tightened his grip around my waist, pulling me closer against his heart.
“And look at you now,” he said, his deep voice thick with quiet pride. “You didn't just survive the storm, Claire. You bought the skyline.”
Across the lawn, little Noah let out a happy squeal, holding up a frosted cupcake with both hands while his brother and sister cheered him on.
I looked up at the man who had pulled me from the depths of despair and given me a kingdom built on truth, strength, and unconditional love.

My husband had tried to bury me in the dark, believing I would fade away into nothingness.
Instead, he had simply given me the chance to rise, conquer, and reign from the very top.
