Chapter 5 - The Fall of the House of ThorneJulian collapsed onto his knees right there on the parquet floor, tears of pure, pathetic ruin spilling down his pale cheeks.

"Thomas... please!" Julian whimpered, reaching his hands out in a desperate, groveling plea. "I was wrong! I... I was stressed! My mother made me do it! She said Audrey was looking down on our family!"
"You starved my child, Julian," I spoke softly, my voice dropping into a register so dark it sent a cold chill through every board member in the room. "You locked her in a room without heat. You struck her face. And when she called her father for help... you told her it was a family matter."
I stood up from the executive chair, stepping down to stand inches from where he groveled on the floor.
"Your family is finished, Julian," I whispered into his ear. "Your father will spend the rest of his life in a federal penitentiary for financial fraud. Your brother will serve twenty years for police corruption. And as for you..."
I pulled an official state arrest warrant from my coat, dropping it flat onto his trembling back.
"You are charged with First-Degree Felony Kidnapping, Aggravated Domestic Torture, and Attempted Premeditated Murder," I reported deadpan.
Senior Federal Marshal Marcus Sterling stepped forward, slapping heavy steel handcuffs around Julian's wrists with a sharp, mechanical CLICK.

"NO! DAD! HELP ME!" Julian shrieked, weeping hysterically as he was dragged flat across the floorboards toward the double doors. "THOMAS! PLEASE! ASK AUDREY TO FORGIVE ME!"
I turned my back on his screaming, walking out of the boardroom with my head held high, leaving the ruins of Thorne Logistics behind forever.
