Chapter 3 - The Confession of the BridesmaidBack inside the grand ballroom, the psychological dam had completely broken.

Cynthia, the head bridesmaid, collapsed onto the polished marble floor, her knees buckling beneath her as she wept uncontrollably. The security guards assigned to secure the bridal party hoisted her up by her arms, but she didn't fight back. She was entirely shattered.
“I’ll talk!” Cynthia screamed, her voice cracking through the sound system as a nearby stage microphone picked up her frantic wails. “I’ll tell you everything! Just don't let them send me to federal prison for twenty years! It wasn't my idea! It was Richard and Victoria!”
Julian stepped over the shattered glass of the poisoned champagne, his towering frame casting a long, menacing shadow over the weeping bridesmaid. He didn't shout. His voice was terrifyingly calm, carrying the heavy weight of a predator whose territory had just been invaded.
“Start talking, Cynthia,” Julian commanded softly. “Every detail. Right now. Or you can explain it to a federal judge while sharing a cell with Victoria.”
Cynthia sobbed, wiping mascara-stained tears from her cheeks as she looked up at the towering tycoon. “The... the poisoned champagne was never the actual end goal of this horrific night!” she confessed, her words tumbling over each other in a desperate rush. “Mr. Sterling... Julian... they weren't trying to kill you tonight. Not permanently. Not yet!”
Julian’s brow furrowed sharply. “Explain.”
“It was a paralytic agent, not a lethal dose!” Cynthia cried out, pointing a trembling finger toward the bewildered guests and the camera screen. “The plan was for you to collapse during the toast, right after drinking the champagne. In the absolute chaos and panic of the room—while everyone was focused on saving your life and accusing the waitress—an ambulance would be called, or private emergency medics pre-arranged by Richard would take over.”
She paused, swallowing hard, her face pale as death.
“Once you were incapacitated and rushed into transit under heavy sedation, the emergency medical proxy documents—already signed by corrupted board notaries—would activate automatically. Richard and Victoria planned to drag you into a private medical facility, declare you mentally unfit due to acute trauma and poisoning, and force you to sign emergency corporate restructuring documents giving them total, irreversible control of Sterling Global’s voting shares and your entire multi-billion-dollar empire!”
A collective murmur of absolute horror swept through the ballroom guests. Business partners, investors, and family members stared at one another in stunned disbelief. Richard hadn't just plotted a murder; he had engineered a corporate coup d'état wrapped in a wedding celebration, using poison as a pen to sign away an empire.
Victoria stood frozen near the shattered glass, her wedding veil slipping from her hair, realizing that her entire life of luxury, beauty, and calculated climbing had just evaporated into ash.
“And the waitress?” Julian asked, his voice dangerously low as he glanced down at Chloe, who was still trembling on the floor.
“A complete pawn,” Cynthia sobbed, covering her face. “Richard picked her personnel file out of the new hire stack three weeks ago specifically because she had no powerful family, no local connections, and no money to fight back. She was supposed to take the fall for the poisoning, get arrested by the compromised local police, and spend ten years in a state penitentiary while Richard and Victoria quietly took over your empire from the top.”

Julian closed his eyes for a single second. When he opened them, all human warmth had vanished from his expression, replaced by a cold, calculating determination that had built his fortune from the ground up.
He turned away from the weeping bridesmaid and walked rapidly toward the west wing corridor where his guards had cornered the mastermind.
