Chapter 7 - The Sovereign FeastSix months later, the spring sun broke brightly over the manicured green lawns of the Rossi estate in Old Westbury.

The threat posed by Matteo Rossi had been eliminated with surgical, absolute finality.
When Matteo attempted an unauthorized strike against the family's primary shipping terminals at Pier 4, Don Salvatore and Gabriel executed an immediate corporate takeover. Matteo was permanently stripped of his family proxies, blacklisted from the syndicate board, and exiled from New York forever.
Under Gabriel's brilliant leadership, the Rossi family completed its complete transition into legitimate international shipping, real estate, and culinary hospitality networks.
On a warm, clear afternoon in late May, the wide stone terrace overlooking the estate's private lake was set with long white linen tables, fresh flowers, and sparkling wine for a grand family celebration.
Sitting at the head of the table in a comfortable leather armchair was eighty-two-year-old Don Salvatore.
His health had achieved a miraculous stabilization. Dressed in a tailored dark suit, his cheeks rosy, a glass of fine Barolo in his hand, he laughed happily as he spoke with three senior family captains.
Sitting beside him, wearing an immaculate white silk gown that caught the afternoon sunlight like liquid gold, her dark hair styled in glossy waves, was me.
On my left hand rested a breathtaking five-carat flawless emerald-cut diamond ring—a promise carved in platinum and light.
Gabriel stood behind my chair, wearing a dark navy suit without a tie, his broad arms wrapped gently around my shoulders, pressing a warm kiss against my temple.
"How is the grand estate feast coming, Donna Tessa?" Gabriel teased softly into my ear.
I turned my head, offering him a radiant, genuine smile that lit up my entire face.
"The roasted lamb is perfect, Mr. Rossi," I answered in flawless Sicilian. "Though your father is currently complaining that the pasta needs more garlic."
Gabriel let out a low, genuine laugh that echoed across the sunlit terrace, pulling me up from my chair into his broad arms.
Don Salvatore raised his wineglass toward the sky, tapping his silver cane against the stone floorboards with a loud, triumphant TAP! TAP! TAP!
"A toast!" the old Don shouted in his booming Palermo dialect, his voice echoing cleanly across the quiet lake. "To my son, Gabriel, and to Donna Tessa! The girl who spoke my childhood language, saved my appetite, and brought honor back to the Rossi family!"
"To Gabriel and Tessa!" the entire terrace echoed in a warm, triumphant chorus, fifty guests clinking their glasses together in the golden sunlight.
I raised my glass, taking a slow sip of fine wine, looking out over the vast, sparkling green estate stretching before us into the unbroken horizon.
There were no unpaid medical bills waiting in dark apartments. There were no arrogant managers shouting in noisy restaurants. There were no shadows lingering in the dark.

The quiet waitress was gone forever. The sovereign matriarch had taken her throne.
And standing under the vast, unbroken sky, wrapped in the arms of the man I loved, holding my head high, I knew that my life, my peace, and my future were finally, beautifully, and forever home.
