Chapter 6 - The Council of SovereignsIn late May 2026, the grand ballroom of the Drake Hotel in downtown Chicago was packed to absolute capacity for the annual Midwestern Maritime & Civic Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, federal prosecutors, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.

Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing an magnificent charcoal bespoke tuxedo, was Vincent DeLuca. His broad six-foot-five frame was squared, his severe, carved-marble face radiating an unshakeable, sovereign authority.

Beside him stood Marcus Vance and our combined executive legal team.

Vincent adjusted his microphone, his storm-gray eyes sweeping across the quiet room before settling on where I sat at the primary VIP table.

His deep, resonant voice carried cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:

"Three months ago, a woman walked into my hallway on roller skates," Vincent announced with deep, genuine pride. "And she showed me that true strength isn't built on fear, weapons, or shadows... it is built on courage, unbroken truth, and sovereign grace."

Vincent held his champagne glass high under the glittering lights.

"To Emma!" the entire room echoed in a warm, triumphant chorus, five hundred crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.
