Chapter 4 - The Abyssal AwakeningThe water in the containment tank didn't just drain—it exploded outward in a blinding geyser of bioluminescent spray.

The air in the subterranean vault instantly grew heavy, thick with a crushing, suffocating atmospheric pressure that made breathing feel like inhaling liquid lead. Alarms shrieked through the facility, their red emergency strobes cutting frantically through the darkness.
Marcus cursed under his breath, his grip on Elena loosening as he stumbled backward against the railing, gasping for air as his ears popped under the sudden barometric shift.
From the center of the swirling, violet-lit pool, something rose.
It was neither human nor beast. It was a towering, elegant silhouette draped in the shimmering, iridescent fabric Elena had analyzed in her lab. The garment seemed to breathe, expanding and contracting with a rhythmic pulse that matched the mysterious acoustic signals recorded by the deep-sea hydrophones. As the entity stepped out of the water onto the steel catwalk, its face remained hidden beneath a translucent cowl of woven ocean minerals that shimmered like mother-of-pearl.
Julian didn't cower. Instead, a fanatical, manic light danced in his eyes. He stepped forward, raising his hands toward the towering figure as if greeting a long-awaited god.
"Magnificent," Julian breathed, his voice trembling with euphoria. "Look at the tensile strength. The perfect integration of organic tissue and abyssal tech. Together, Vance Global and the Architect of the Deep will remake humanity."
The entity paused. Slowly, it turned its cowl toward Julian. A sound—not of vocal cords, but of grinding tectonic plates and rushing deep-sea currents—echoed directly inside everyone's minds, a chilling telepathic resonance that made Elena’s teeth ache.
YOU ASKED FOR THE WEIGHT OF THE ABYSS, CHILD OF DUST.
NOW YOU SHALL WEAR IT.
Before Julian could blink, the iridescent fabric rippled like liquid mercury. A streak of shimmering light whipped through the air with terrifying speed.
Before Julian could scream, the fabric wrapped around his torso in a fraction of a second, tightening with an irresistible, bone-shattering force. Julian’s eyes bulged in absolute terror as his tailored suit began to compress, his ribs cracking like dry twigs under the sudden, impossible pressure.
"Help me!" Julian choked out, thrashing wildly as he was lifted off his feet by the blindingly fast coils of the living garment.
Marcus drew his sidearm, firing three frantic rounds straight into the entity's chest. The bullets struck the shimmering fabric, flattened instantly against its surface into harmless lead disks, and dropped harmlessly to the metal floor with soft clinks.
The entity turned its gaze toward Marcus. With a flick of its wrist, a second wave of iridescent fabric lashed out, wrapping around Marcus and hurling him across the cavern into a stack of heavy steel equipment. He slumped to the floor, unconscious.

Elena stood frozen against the railing, her breath coming in ragged gasps as the crushing atmospheric pressure in the room began to normalize.
Julian hung suspended in the air, his body compressed and distorted within the shimmering cocoon of the abyssal garment, exactly like the victims from twenty-seven years ago. The entity turned its glowing, faceless cowl toward Elena, tilting its head in a gesture of strange, timeless curiosity.
