Chapter 6 - The Trap is SprungThe emergency board meeting of Carter Global was scheduled for 9:00 AM the following morning in the grand glass-walled auditorium on the fiftieth floor of the Carter Tower.

By 8:45 AM, the room was packed. Institutional investors, board members, media representatives, and federal regulators sat in tense anticipation. At the center of the mahogany table sat Marcus Vance, wearing his immaculate suit, projecting an aura of calm, sorrowful leadership.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Marcus began, standing up and clearing his throat with theatrical gravity. "Due to the unfortunate, sudden medical leave of our CEO, Mr. Ethan Carter, and the bizarre security incidents reported at The Sterling restaurant last night, I have called this emergency session to invoke executive continuity protocols..."

The double doors at the back of the auditorium swung open with a sharp, heavy thud.

Marcus stopped speaking. Every head in the room turned toward the entrance.

Ethan Carter walked in.

He didn't look like a man recovering from a crisis. He walked with absolute, unshakeable authority, his dark tailored suit crisp, his gray eyes locked dead onto Marcus Vance. Walking right beside him, wearing a sharp, professional navy blazer and holding a secure encrypted tablet, was me.

Panic flickered across Marcus’s face for a split second before he forced a strained, welcoming smile. "Ethan! Thank God you're safe. We heard reports of an armed altercation—"

"Save it, Marcus," Ethan interrupted, his voice ringing crystal-clear through the auditorium’s sound system. He walked straight to the head of the table, bypassing Marcus entirely, and pressed a master control button on the podium.

Behind the podium, the massive, wall-sized digital display flickered to life.

Instantly, thousands of lines of decrypted financial records, offshore bank transfers, encrypted chat transcripts between Marcus and Victor Volkov, and the forensic audit of Professor Arthur Sterling’s encrypted database filled the screen in bright, undeniable red and white text.

A collective gasp swept through the board members. Several journalists in the back row began frantically typing on their laptops.

"What... what is this?" Marcus stammered, his face turning the color of ash as he stared at the screen. "These are fabrications! Forged documents! Ethan, you're being manipulated by—"

"By the daughter of the man you murdered," Ethan finished coldly, stepping aside to let me step up to the podium.

I looked out across the sea of powerful faces in the auditorium—the same type of elite, untouchable people who had dined at The Sterling while treating invisible workers like ghosts. I didn't feel small anymore. I felt the full weight of my father’s legacy standing behind me.

"The cipher on the screen corresponds to transaction hash numbers registered directly to Marcus Vance’s personal Cayman Islands entity," I announced into the microphone, my voice steady, clear, and resonant. "Furthermore, the biometric metadata embedded in the deletion logs of Professor Sterling’s university server matches Marcus Vance’s corporate security key card."

Before Marcus could lunge for the door, federal marshals in plainclothes stepped out from the wings of the auditorium, their badges gleaming under the stage lights.

"Marcus Vance," the lead marshal said, placing a heavy hand on Marcus's shoulder and clicking handcuffs around his wrists. "You are under arrest for federal wire fraud, conspiracy, and the first-degree murder of Professor Arthur Sterling."

As Marcus was hauled away in absolute, stunned silence, the auditorium erupted into chaos.
