Chapter 6 - The New Queen of New YorkSix months later, the grand ballroom of the Moretti estate was filled with the elite of New York society, high-ranking corporate executives, and trusted allies of the family.

It was our wedding night.
The room was bathed in the soft, warm glow of a thousand crystal chandeliers, decorated with cascading white orchids and silver accents. String quartets played a gentle classical melody from the mezzanine balcony, while waiters in crisp black tuxedos circulated with flutes of vintage champagne.
I stood in front of the massive floor-to-ceiling mirror in my private dressing room, adjusting the bodice of my custom-designed ivory silk gown. The carbon-fiber cast on my left arm was long gone, replaced by full mobility and a faint, silvery scar that served as a badge of survival rather than a mark of shame.
The door clicked open, and Vincent stepped inside.
He wore a bespoke midnight-blue tuxedo that fit his broad shoulders to perfection. He stopped a few feet behind me, looking at my reflection in the mirror with an expression of quiet, absolute adoration.
“You take my breath away, Lena,” he whispered, walking up behind me and resting his hands gently on my waist.
I leaned back against his chest, smiling as I looked at our reflection together. “You clean up pretty well yourself, Mr. Moretti.”
“Are you ready?” he asked softly, kissing the crook of my neck. “Everyone is waiting downstairs.”
I turned around in his arms, wrapping my hands around his neck, looking straight into his dark, unwavering eyes.
“I’ve never been more ready for anything in my life,” I said.
When Vincent and I descended the grand marble staircase together, the murmurs in the ballroom instantly hushed. Every eye in the room turned toward us. But there was no fear in their gazes anymore—only deep, respectful awe.
Anthony stood near the front, raising his champagne glass toward us with a broad, proud grin.
As we walked out onto the dance floor for our first dance, the string quartet swelled into a rich, romantic waltz. Vincent pulled me close, his strong arms wrapping around me, guiding me effortlessly across the polished floor.
I rested my head against his shoulder, closing my eyes for a brief moment as the music washed over us.
A year ago, I had been a terrified, broken waitress hiding in a blood-stained bathroom, whispering a desperate prayer into a dying phone.
Now, I was standing in the heart of an empire, dancing with the most powerful man in New York, completely free, completely protected, and completely loved.
Marcus was rotting in a federal cell. The Brighton Beach syndicate was shattered. And my past was nothing more than ash in the wind.
Vincent spun me gently, catching me against his chest with a warm, knowing smile.

“Welcome home, my queen,” he whispered against my hair.
“I’m right where I belong,” I replied, looking up into his eyes as we danced into our forever.
