Chapter 4 - The Trojan HorseThe plan was audacious, risky, and executed with the ruthless precision of a military operation. Richard knew that simply sending lawyers with a subpoena would allow Margaret time to shred documents, liquidate offshore assets, and hide the original will. To catch her completely off guard, we needed a Trojan horse—and as the legal mother of the heirs and the person Margaret still arrogantly believed she could control, I was the only one who could pull it off.

Two days later, the sleek black Maybach pulled up to the grand iron gates of the Whitmore estate just as the afternoon sun began to dip below the tree line.

Inside the car, my heart hammered wildly against my ribs. I was dressed in a sharp, tailored emerald-green silk dress that Richard had personally selected for me—a stark, powerful contrast to the faded, stained cotton aprons I had worn as a servant. My hair was styled in a sleek chignon, and a subtle touch of makeup highlighted the sharp cheekbones and fierce determination in my eyes.

"Remember," Richard said quietly, reaching across the console to give my hand a reassuring squeeze. His fingers were warm, steady, and grounding. "You are no longer a servant in this house, Emily. You are the rightful executor of Michael's estate, and you hold all the cards. If she threatens you, look her in the eye and smile. My security team is monitoring every inch of the property through micro-cameras, and local law enforcement is waiting just down the private road for my signal."

"I'm ready," I said, taking a deep breath and exhaling every ounce of the fear and humiliation that had defined my life for the past six years.

The heavy iron gates parted automatically as Richard’s vehicle was recognized by the automated scanner—Margaret was expecting a lawyer’s letter, not a direct confrontation. The car rolled up the familiar gravel drive and stopped right at the grand double doors of the mansion.

When I stepped out alone, the crisp Greenwich air filled my lungs. The front door swung open almost immediately, and Margaret Whitmore appeared on the threshold, flanked by two towering private security guards. Her face twisted into a mask of pure, venomous fury when she saw that it was me, not a process server, standing on her steps.

"You ungrateful, manipulative little rat," Margaret shrieked, stepping forward as if she intended to strike me again. "How dare you show your face on my property after what that billionaire scoundrel did? Where are my grandchildren? If you have sold them or hidden them—"

I didn't flinch. I didn't cower. I raised my hand slightly, stepping past her security guards as if they were nothing more than decorative statues.

"Keep your voice down, Margaret," I said, my voice cutting through the courtyard with an icy, metallic sharpness that stopped her dead in her tracks. "You look nervous. Is it because you realize that the foundation audit has already flagged your offshore accounts, or because you know the police are currently reviewing your forgery of Michael's signature?"

Margaret’s face drained of color, her eyes widening in genuine terror. "You... you're bluffing. You don't have anything. You're just a stupid, penniless servant who couldn't even give my son a proper heir!"

"Is that what you tell yourself to sleep at night?" I replied, walking past her into the grand foyer where I had been slapped just days before. The marble floors gleamed under the crystal chandeliers, but the house felt hollow, tainted by her decades of tyranny. "I'm not here to argue with you, Margaret. I'm here to collect what is mine. And more importantly, I'm here to take back the original will that you stole from Michael’s safe."

"Guards! Remove her! Throw her out into the street!" Margaret screamed, her voice cracking with rising panic as she motioned frantically to the two men at the door.

Before the guards could even take a step, the grand double doors flew open again, and three men in dark tactical suits stepped into the foyer—not Richard’s private guards, but federal agents accompanied by two local detectives holding an emergency search and seizure warrant signed by a federal judge.

"Margaret Whitmore," the lead detective announced, flashing a shiny silver badge. "You are being detained for financial fraud, embezzlement of charitable funds, and document falsification. Step away from the safe, ma'am."

Margaret stumbled backward, her hand flying to her throat as the world she had built on lies and cruelty came crashing down around her in a deafening roar.
