Chapter 7 - The Sterling LegacySix months later.

The spring sun bathed the sprawling gardens of the newly restored Sterling estate in a warm, golden glow. The scars of the fire had been completely erased, replaced by immaculate landscaping, blooming white roses, and the joyful, echoing laughter of new life.
In the center of the manicured lawn, sitting comfortably in a shaded white wicker armchair, Elena held a tiny, bundled bundle against her chest.
Baby Liam Sterling was sleeping peacefully, his tiny fingers curled into tight little fists, wrapped in a soft cashmere blanket.
Jonathan walked across the lawn carrying a tray with two glasses of freshly squeezed lemonade. He wore a crisp white linen shirt with the sleeves rolled up, looking more relaxed and genuinely happy than he had ever looked in his entire life.
He knelt beside Elena’s chair, setting the tray down on the small glass table before gently brushing a kiss against his son’s forehead, then pressing a long, tender kiss to Elena’s lips.
“He finally fell asleep?” Jonathan whispered, smiling down at the baby.
“Like an angel,” Elena whispered back, her eyes shining with absolute contentment. “Though I give him twenty minutes before he wakes up demanding breakfast again.”
Jonathan laughed, sitting down in the chair beside her, taking her hand in his. The corporate wars, the corporate espionage, the betrayal of Victoria and Richard, and the madness of Eleanor were all distant memories—ghosts buried beneath the rich soil of a new beginning.
Sterling Enterprises was stronger than ever. The board had unanimously appointed Elena as the Chief Strategy Officer, a role she commanded with brilliant, compassionate authority. Richard and Eleanor were serving consecutive life sentences in federal maximum-security prisons, entirely cut off from the world they had tried to manipulate.
And here, in the quiet sanctuary they had carved out of the fire, there was only peace.
“You know,” Jonathan said softly, looking out over the sprawling gardens toward the horizon where the New York skyline glittered in the distance, “when you fell down those stairs six months ago, I thought my entire world was ending.”
Elena looked at him, her thumb tracing the knuckles of his hand. “Instead, it was just beginning.”
Jonathan smiled, tightening his grip around her fingers. He leaned in close, resting his forehead against hers as the wind rustled softly through the white roses around them.

“Forever, Elena,” he murmured.
“Forever,” she whispered back, closing her eyes as the future finally unfolded before them, safe, unbroken, and entirely their own.
