Chapter 6 - The Council of SovereignsIn late May 2026, the grand ballroom of the Fairmont Copley Plaza in downtown Boston was packed to absolute capacity for the annual Vale Global Maritime & Civic Gala.

Over three hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, federal prosecutors, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.

Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing an magnificent charcoal bespoke tuxedo, was Graham Vale. His broad shoulders were squared, his severe, carved-marble face radiating an unshakeable, sovereign authority.

Beside him stood his mother, Charlotte Vale, looking at her son and daughter-in-law with tears of deep, ancient pride shining in her eyes.

Graham adjusted his microphone, his storm-gray eyes sweeping across the quiet room before settling on where I sat at the head table.

His deep, resonant voice carried cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:

"Four years ago, I believed that strength was built on cold walls, vengeance, and silence," Graham announced with deep, genuine pride. "And then I met a woman who walked into my house, looked at my darkest shadows, and brought the light of unbroken truth."

Graham held his champagne glass high under the glittering lights.

"To Audrey!" the entire room echoed in a warm, triumphant chorus, three hundred crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.
