Chapter 6 - The UnravelingChaos erupted in the grand ballroom within sixty seconds.

Guests began breaking open the heavy wax seals with trembling fingers, pulling out the thick packet of financial documents, bank wire receipts, and forensic accounting summaries. The evidence was damning, undeniable, and laid out with clinical precision by Julian’s team.
“My God...” muttered the senior director of Portland Commercial Bank, staring down at a printed wire transfer ledger. “Gavin... you used fraudulent shell company signatures to secure commercial loans against properties you didn't even own?”
“It’s not true! It’s all fabricated!” Gavin yelled, lunging desperately toward the banker, his face mottled with purple rage and absolute terror. “Clara forged those documents! She’s mentally unstable, she staged a coup—!”
“The federal routing numbers and digital audit trails cannot be forged, Mr. Kingsley,” Julian interrupted coldly, stepping directly into Gavin’s path. “Furthermore, federal investigators from the Department of Financial Oversight were quietly provided copies of this exact dossier three hours ago. I believe they’re waiting for you outside in the lobby right now.”
As if on cue, the heavy glass doors at the back of the ballroom pushed open.
Three men in federal dark suits and ID badges stepped calmly into the room, their expressions grim and purposeful. They didn't draw weapons; they didn't need to. The sheer weight of their presence sucked all remaining oxygen out of the lavish celebration.
Brooke burst into hysterical tears, dropping to her knees beside the wicker bassinet where baby Leo began crying loudly at the sudden commotion. She looked up at our parents, pleading for help, but our father turned his face away in profound shame, while our mother stood frozen, unable to utter a single word of defense.
“Gavin Kingsley?” the lead federal agent asked, stepping up to the center of the room and flashing a badge. “You are being placed under arrest for wire fraud, corporate embezzlement, and interstate financial conspiracy.”
The silver handcuffs gleamed under the crystal chandeliers as they clicked firmly around Gavin’s wrists. He didn't fight back. All the arrogant bluster, the polished courtroom charm, and the calculated cruelty evaporated instantly, leaving behind a broken, sweating man in a ruined Armani tuxedo.
As they marched him backward out of the ballroom, past the horrified stares of Portland’s elite society, Gavin caught my eye one last time.

There was no anger left in his gaze—only a hollow, staggering realization of how completely he had underestimated the woman he tried to destroy.
The ballroom doors swung shut behind them, leaving behind a stunned, suffocating silence broken only by the soft, helpless wailing of the infant in the bassinet.
