Chapter 6 - The Festival of LightIn late September 2026, the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan was packed to absolute capacity for the inaugural Catherine Sterling Foundation Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, federal prosecutors, and high-society matriarchs gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.

Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing a breathtaking floor-length dark emerald silk evening gown that celebrated my tall, graceful figure, was me.

Around my neck hung my late mother's vintage diamond signet pendant, my dark hair falling in glossy waves over my shoulders, my hazel eyes burning with absolute, unshakeable victory, inner peace, and sovereign grace.

Beside the stage stood my three brothers—Ethan, Alexander, and Nathaniel—looking magnificent in dark bespoke tuxedos, while seven-year-old Lily stood by my side in a white silk dress, holding a bouquet of yellow sunflowers.

I adjusted the microphone, my clear, silver baritone echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:

"One year ago, I sat on a cold cellar floor in the dark, believing that my life was over," I announced to the silent ballroom, my voice filled with deep, genuine pride. "And on that night, I learned that true strength isn't enduring violence in silence... it is calling your blood, breaking the shadows, and standing tall as the queen of your own life."

I held my champagne glass high under the glittering lights.
