Chapter 5 - The Corporate PurgeA empire built on deceit crumbles overnight when the true architect reclaims his throne and cleans house from top to bottom.

Monday morning.
The top-floor executive boardroom of Vance Enterprises in downtown Dallas was packed with thirty corporate executives, department heads, and regional directors.
When I stepped through the double doors wearing a sharp, dark charcoal suit, every person in the room stood up in immediate, respectful silence.
The scandal from Friday night had already made the front page of the Dallas Morning News: “Vance Dynasty Fractured: Billionaire Heir Exposes Family Abuse at Elite Gala.” Stock prices had dipped four percent at the opening bell, but by 9:00 AM, institutional investors had flooded our offices with inquiries, sensing a massive corporate restructuring.
I walked straight to the head of the polished mahogany table and sat down.
"Sit," I commanded quietly.
Everyone took their seats simultaneously.
"I won't waste your time with pleasantties," I began, my voice echoing clearly across the vast room. "As most of you know, major changes have occurred within the executive leadership of this firm over the weekend. Effective immediately, all internal positions previously held by Eleanor Vance and Gabriela Vance have been permanently dissolved."
A murmur rippled through the middle tiers of management. Several vice presidents who had owed their promotions to my mother’s personal favoritism nervously adjusted their ties.
"Furthermore," I continued, sliding a thick legal document across the center of the table toward our Chief Compliance Officer, "we are initiating a comprehensive forensic audit of all corporate expenditures over the past five years. Any accounts linked to unauthorized personal shell companies, luxury slush funds, or familial embezzlement will be reported directly to federal authorities."
Jonathan Reed, our senior legal counsel, picked up the document, scanned the first page, and nodded slowly. "Understood, Mr. Vance. We will have the compliance team lock down the subsidiary ledgers by noon."
"Good," I said, leaning forward, resting my elbows on the table. "Vance Enterprises was founded on three principles: industrial innovation, absolute transparency, and mutual respect. For too long, this company has operated like an aristocratic fiefdom where nepotism superseded competence. That era ends today."
I looked around the room, meeting the eyes of every key director.
"We are shifting our capital focus entirely toward sustainable infrastructure and community development programs across Texas. We are expanding our remote-work options for employees, and we are doubling our employee welfare budget."
A sudden, unexpected round of applause broke out near the back of the room, led by our head of operations, a brilliant woman named Claire who had spent ten years watching my mother block her promotions.

I offered a rare, genuine smile.
"Let's get to work."
