Chapter 4 - The TransformationThe next three weeks passed in a whirlwind of luxury, elegance, and fierce protection that completely altered the trajectory of my life.

Adrian held true to every word of his promise. Within forty-eight hours, Leo was admitted to the prestigious Lakeside Rehabilitation Center, where the state's top orthopedic specialists began an intensive, cutting-edge physical therapy program. For the first time in three years, my brother smiled without pain in his eyes.
Meanwhile, I was moved into a private, sunlit guest suite in the east wing of the Moretti estate.
A team of elite stylists, tailors, and designers arrived at the estate under Adrian’s personal supervision. But unlike the cruel department store clerks who had made me feel small for years, Adrian's head designer—a brilliant French woman named Madame Vivienne—looked at my broad shoulders, wide hips, and soft curves with genuine, creative delight.
"You have the silhouette of a Renaissance queen, chérie," Madame Vivienne declared, draping a bolt of heavy emerald silk over my shoulders. "We do not hide your body. We celebrate it."
When I stepped out of the dressing room on the evening of the first gala—wearing a custom, floor-length emerald silk gown that hugged my waist, draped beautifully over my hips, and flared gently at the hem—Adrian was waiting at the bottom of the grand staircase.
He wore a tailored black tuxedo, his dark hair neatly styled, looking like an emperor commanding a kingdom.
When his gray eyes caught sight of me, he went completely motionless.
The quiet, sharp corporate aura that surrounded him vanished instantly, replaced by a deep, breathless admiration that sent a wave of intense heat straight to my core.
He walked up the marble steps slowly, his eyes never leaving my face.
"You are breathtaking, Mara," Adrian whispered, his voice raspy and low.
"I don't look... out of place?" I asked softly, a lingering shadow of my old insecurity creeping into my voice.
Adrian reached out, his broad, calloused hand gently framing my jawline, his thumb stroking my cheekbone with an agonizing tenderness that made my knees weak.
May you like
"You look like the only woman in this city who matters," Adrian promised softly.
He held out his arm, and I placed my hand comfortably over his tailored sleeve, stepping out into the night as Donna Mara Bellamy—the woman beside the Don.
