Chapter 4 - The Separation of Blood(Focus: Evan moves Rachel and the triplets to his private estate; he formally confronts his mother at the corporate headquarters.)

The Vance Corporate Tower in downtown Philadelphia was an architectural monument of black glass and polished steel, a physical manifestation of my family's multi-million-dollar real estate empire. At 10:00 AM on Monday morning, the atmosphere inside the executive boardroom was thick with an intense, suffocating tension.

My mother, Victoria Vance, sat at the head of the long mahogany conference table, wearing a flawless emerald-green suit and her signature pearls. Surrounding her were the top legal advisors and primary shareholders of our firm, alongside Noelle’s father, Arthur Stanton, who looked absolutely furious.

The double glass doors of the boardroom were violently thrown open. I walked into the room, wearing a sharp, custom-tailored dark suit, my face an absolute mask of cold, unadulterated fury.

"Evan!" Victoria said, her voice smooth and dripping with practiced, maternal disapproval as she set her gold fountain pen down. "Thank goodness you’ve finally arrived to explain this absolute circus. Arthur is currently preparing to liquidate his family's investment shares because of the ridiculous statement you made to Noelle over the weekend. Sit down so we can draft a formal public apology to the press."

I didn't sit down. I walked to the center of the room, pulled the forged letters and the handwriting analysis report from my jacket, and slammed them directly onto the polished mahogany wood right in front of her teacup.

"Take a good look at those, Victoria," I said, my voice carrying a low, terrifying vibration that caused every single executive in the room to instantly freeze.

Victoria casually glanced down at the documents. For a split second, a sharp flash of genuine panic flickered across her icy blue eyes, before her face hardened into a cold, arrogant sneer. "I have absolutely no idea what rubbish this is supposed to be, Evan. If this is some pathetic attempt by your low-class ex-wife to disrupt your high-society marriage—"

"You forged her signature, Victoria," I cut her off, my voice slicing through the boardroom like an executioner's blade. "You paid a private security firm to intercept my mail, you threatened a registered medical practice, and you used corporate funds to hire a fraudulent service to mimic my wife's handwriting. You didn't just destroy a marriage; you committed corporate larceny, identity theft, and extortion using the Vance firm's capital."

The room fell into a deathly, horrified silence. The legal advisors looked at the documents on the table, their faces turning completely pale as they realized the catastrophic legal implications of what I was saying.

"Evan, how dare you speak to your mother this way in front of the board!" Victoria shrieked, standing up, her aristocratic mask finally shattering to reveal the desperate, controlling monster underneath. "I did what was necessary to protect this family's lineage! Rachel Ames was a nobody! She was a drag on your ambitions! I secured your future with the Stanton family!"

"My future is currently sitting inside my private estate in Chester County, Victoria," I said, stepping closer to her, my icy gray eyes burning into hers with a lethal intensity. "Along with my three-year-old triplets. My daughters, Chloe and Lily, and my son, Logan. The children you tried to sentence to a life of poverty just to satisfy your own sick obsession with corporate status."

Arthur Stanton blinked in total shock, turning to look at my mother. "Victoria... you knew about grandchildren? And you kept this hidden?"

"They are irrelevant!" Victoria screamed, her hands shaking violently. "Evan, you are the head of this firm because I allow you to be! If you push this ridiculous matter, I will use my majority voting block on the board to strip you of your title as CEO by noon today!"

"You don't have a majority block anymore, Victoria," I said calmly, pulling a secondary document from my pocket. It was a certified corporate resolution signed at 6:00 AM by my father's surviving brothers—the true foundational founders of the Vance firm. "While you were busy planning a fake high-society wedding, I spent the last forty-eight hours buying out the remaining family shares. Effective right now, you are officially terminated from the board of directors. Your corporate access badges have been permanently revoked, and your personal assets inside this firm have been entirely frozen pending a full federal forensic audit."

Victoria staggered backward, her hand flying to her chest, her face completely drained of color as she realized her entire kingdom had just been dismantled in a single morning.

"You can't do this to me," she whispered, her voice cracking. "I am your mother, Evan."

"My mother died the day she decided to hunt my children like anomalies," I replied coldly, turning my back to her as two uniformed security guards walked into the room to escort her out. "Enjoy the retirement, Victoria. It's going to be incredibly quiet."
